This hotel treats guests like garbage with parking.
I booked a room several months in advance to see a basketball game at Spectrum Center. When my husband drove up to the on-site garage for valet parking, the valets refused to take our vehicle claiming the garage was full. However, my husband drove through the entire garage in order to exit and noticed that there were several open parking spaces available. Hyatt's website also still showed available rooms at that location, so it didn't make sense why we couldn't use the valet.
I went to the front desk about the valet issue and was told that we were required to pay for a separate parking package and call in advance to guarantee a parking spot, and that all of this is disclosed online and in the reservation (which it wasn't). When I confronted her about the discrepancies, she wouldn't give me a straight answer and insinuated that it was my fault for not booking the room correctly. We then had to go to a separate parking garage several blocks away from the hotel, forcing my disabled husband to drag his leg during the whole walk back. This fiasco also caused us to miss the first quarter of the basketball game.
The next day, my husband spoke with a manager and found out that our names were not added to an internal list the valet uses to confirm which guests had reservations and were allowed to use the on-site garage, so we should not have been turned away in the first place. We also found out that the Hyatt staff lied to us about being required to pay for a separate parking package and calling in advance to use the valet. The valet option is available to all guests regardless of how the room is booked, and even booking the parking package does not guarantee parking on site if the reservation is made too late.
Finding this out after the fact doesn't undo how poorly the Hyatt's valet and front desk receptionist treated us, the additional injury done to my husband's leg from the extra walking, or the lost time from the game we spent months planning to see. Do not waste your time here. Go to a hotel that doesn't lie and blame their guests for the...
Read moreStayed in October, 2025 for a college tour with my 2 daughters and 1 of their friends. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. No roll away bed available in this location even though the room was over 500 sq ft, when we asked for an additional pillow we were told by the front desk that the had no extra pillows in the whole place (somehow when I saw the friendly guy from house keeping he managed to bring us 2!). ||||We stayed on the 10th floor, the windows did almost nothing to help block the street noise. It didn't help that there is major construction directly across from the hotel that started up at 6am on Saturday morning. ||||The only parking provided through the hotel was valet parking at $55 a night, they allow you to drop your car off but to get it back you HAVE to download an app (not Hyatt) and enter your credit card information. This is an outside company so no Hyatt points and no help from the front desk. When I picked up my car after leaving it for less than 24 hours the app decided to charge me for 2 nights of parking, I still have not gotten a receipt and I am unsure if this was corrected by the valet (Eddie - nice guy), he tried to correct it but he was unsure if the system would charge correctly. Apparently it is a new system and not well understood by anyone. ||||Breakfast was the worst I have had in many years, it may be slightly better than the youth hostel I stayed in in 1998...maybe. Location is great if you are attending a concert at the Spectrum center. Food at the diner across the street was really good. We got some wings and a quesadilla from the restaurant/bar inside the hotel and that was decent and priced reasonably. ||If you stay here I would suggest staying for the location only and skipping the depressing breakfast unless you like stale donut holes and soggy fruit. Remember your ear plugs if you want to sleep past 6am and maybe bring your own pillows...
Read moreHyatt House Charlotte pros: Queena or Quina (front desk staff) was absolutely delightful and has excellent customer service. From the time we walked in, she was so pleasant. She, alone, deserves 5 stars! (I hope I spelled her name correctly.) Special thanks to her!!! Location was great. We were able to walk to dinner. Lots of restaurants, drugstores, etc are steps away. Thanksgiving parade was in the area that evening. So that was cool.
Cons: Room was hot upon entry. Didn't like room layout. Pillows are too small for the bed. Husband noted dingy bathroom. Single chair in living room area was covered in lint, hair, and a couple stains (gross!) Curtains would not stay closed all the way in bedroom, causing light to come through during the night. Valet number doesn't work, called a few times the number on the valet ticket, no answer. Called front desk to be told oh yeah, the valet phone doesn't work. This was next morning when about to checkout. Parking is $30 per night. No self parking and to park in surrounding/area lot, they say you have to move your car every 12 hours. Not sure if that was a gimmick to park at Hyatt or what but went ahead and did valet. I also had a note about bedroom TV but can't remember what about it...
It was okay one night, so it served its purpose. If the stay was longer than 1 night, probably would have requested another room to see if any better/cleaner or checked out early. Really would give 2.5 stars but rounded up.
I have been to a couple Hyatt Houses and this one didn't meet expectations that I am used to (outside of excellent...
