Worst service ever! I called and made a reservation and upon arrival they told us that they had no reservations for the evening. Luckily it wasn't very busy, after we were sat no one came to take the drink orders for about 10 mins. A server finally comes over and takes drink orders and then leaves, brings the drinks back and then leaves again. We were missing 1 person from our party but were all very hungry and didn't want to wait to order. About 20 minutes she returns and takes appetizer orders. Appetizers were out shortly after. Now we've been there for about 30 minutes again, it was not busy. Now we all of a sudden have a new server, who sorely lacked basic service skills. He didn't introduce himself or offer us any refills. He takes the order and brings out the food. They never once removed plates from our tiny table. As stated before we were there to celebrate my best friends birthday, I had a cake for her. Since they never removed any of the plates from the table when we were done there was no where to eat the cake. It seemed that everyone in the Front of House staff (aside from the sushi chef) was annoyed with anything that we asked for, eventhough the were less than 10 people in the entire restaurant and we were 6 of them. We told the server we were disappointed with all of the poor service that we'd received and he said ok. We had had enough of the poor service and asked for our checks. One of our guests asked to apply his Groupon and was told he would be the only 1 that could use it. After having awful service the entire evening they had already charged 20% gratuity to our bill and now the server began being disrespectful to my friend. He pulled up his Groupon and told the server that that information was not on the Groupon which it is not, he said yes it was it's not my fault that you can't read it. I was blown away. My friend then asked to speak with the manager. We asked her about the Groupon policy because it's not listed on the actual Groupon and she said that there's nothing to do about it. We then voiced to her about the poor service that we had received all evening from them not having our reservation that was made in advance. To the amount of time it took to place an order, that we hadn't been offered any refills, the lack of professionalism from either server and that we were there to celebrate a birthday and there was no place for us to eat because the tables had not been cleared. She did not apologize she only told us again that the Groupon could not be used. At that point we hadn't even asked about the Groupon again we were just ready to go. Her delivery of the things that she was saying was very snappy, she clearly lacked basic people/social skills. I didn't believe that the manager would be worse than the server. My friend then ask to speak to someone that was over the manager she refused initially and then called the owner on the phone. While speaking to the owner of the restaurant over the phone the owner told my friend that he only uses Groupon for marketing so doesn't really care about honoring it because he doesn't make money off of it. So it's our fault that we got the short end of the stick. He also completely refused to apologize for his staff and their horrible service and in fact got an attitude as well. It was unbelievable, the entire operation aside from the kitchen staff and the sushi chef delivered the worst attitudes and service that I have ever seen in my life (not an exaggeration). If you can help me to get this refund processed as soon as possible that would be great. I'm surprised they are even in business running an...
Read moreI came here on a whim. In the mood for sushi and it's up the street from my house, gave it a shot. It's a small little place, nice atmosphere but felt cluttered, tight aisles, weird counter placement and take out line made it feel cramped.
I didn't see signage that said wait to be seated or seat yourself. I got hung up waiting in the take out line to ask for a seat. Overall I enjoyed my food. Not very exciting taste wise.
Pad Thai was ok. Very stingy to non-existent on flavors like basil, lemongrass, spice. Veggies were somewhat over cooked, I saw no bean sprouts, minimal peanuts. It was boring, mushy sweet ketchup noodles. I missed the crunchy texture factor I crave with Pad Thai. It was Good for a last min option but was somewhat bland for a decent pad Thai, 7/10. I wouldn't get it again. I Should have asked for some spice. Next time I will.
I had a sushi combo (spicy yellowtail and spicy crab (imitation crab) and a super crunchy roll. My fault for not clarifying or asking if the crab roll was imitation. Both unfortunately were not spicy at all, 6.5/10.The sushi was ok. Obviously not fresh, pre made? Overly sticky, had to use hands vs chopsticks to pry them off plate and each other.
For optics the browning avo in the rolls wasn't the most visually appealing for me but good overall.
The sushi here is what I consider "starter sushi". They do have nigiri and sashimi but I need to visually see some options before I'd order raw sushi here. I need a visual of the fish in a showcase cooler in front of a rolling station before I eat raw sushi. I can be a bit picky when choosing a really good sushi haunt. THIS isn't a place for seasoned sushi consumers.
Im not really into cooked sushi, but usually get that when trying new places. The rolls themselves structurally looked good but fell flat for me picking them up and they begin falling apart. As mentioned they didn't taste fresh. Nothing "fried" in the rolls were warm. Definitely wouldn't order raw options here. On any future visits I'd stay away from the sushi and pad Thai all together. Granted this was a last min lunch choice, and it did put the crave to rest by satisfying a quick need for sushi. Harris Teeter deli has comparable quality in the pre packaged rolls. This would not be a place I'd consider plunking money down on sushi expecting GOOD sushi.
Spring rolls were tasty 10/10.
The star of the show was the waiter. He maned the dining room with multiple 4 top tables, me and a couple. Managed to keep me satisfied, fed and watered regularly as he attended to everyone else, then bused all the tables himself. None of the women helped him, he was up there alone for as long as I paid attention. One woman did give me a menu after a few mins, but she vanished once he got to my table.
He also got carry out orders, packed stuff.. took calls. The guy w the longer hair tied back w/ the cool earring deserves all his tips. More impressed with him than the food. I haven't seen that level efficiency in a long time.
Overall food was ok, but its better options around the vicinity, im sure I'll try it again one day. Lunch was easy enough to snag a table. Not sure abt dinner considering the size.
This is what I'd consider a 2nd-3rd choice if a better option falls thru. Definitely gave vibes as a better appetizer and wine place. I'll probably go that route on any...
Read moreOkay no really, how does this place have good reviews? I know, not the best way to start a review. But let me tell you about this place. If you have never been here before, don’t walk in from the street entrance. No one will acknowledge your existence. There aren’t any signs to tell you what to do or where to go. Once we figured out there was a second entrance from inside the building, we walked over to that side and the man at the counter seated us. We wait. Then we wait some more. The people seated at the table next to us got up out of frustration; but I consider myself a patient man. Once our waiter came, we started with calamari. Do not order the calamari. I repeat, DO NOT ORDER THE CALAMARI! I’ve had good calamari before, great calamari, bad calamari, all sorts of calamari, but this put them all to shame. Places like this are the reason so many people claim they don’t like calamari. I’m not even entirely confident it was calamari. I believe it might have been lightly battered and fried rubber. I know, we should have sent it back; but again, I’m patient. Sushi. Well. It isn’t awful. I qualify awful sushi as that found on Chinese buffets. This was one step above that. Four different rolls; each one more disappointing than the next. How you serve a Crispy California roll cold is beyond me. Nothing tempura should ever be cold. The dragon roll was the best of the four we ordered and even it was only okay. The Room 112 Roll (I believe that’s what it was called) was falling apart with even the most gentle of nudges. The Salmon Dream roll sounded amazing... you know where I’m going with this. And if it were just me dining and having this opinion I wouldn’t be so harsh because maybe my taste buds were going rouge that day. But my friend, who also eats sushi at least once a week, was just as let down. So hey, if this place was terrible, then why are you giving it an extra star? Because the green tea was good and because they gave us Andes Mints with our check. If this were some hole in the wall (it is) that didn’t claim to be good, I might be more lenient in my review; but we came here with high expectations and left with a strong sense of...
