Walked in today for brunch. Order the breakfast platter; eggs over medium. A short while later a man from the kitchen tosses a plate in front of me and barks "breakfast platter" only I realize that the eggs are scrambled, as he walks away. As I'm waiting to get my server's attention, one of the other bartenders says "What's wrong? Can I help you?" which I thought was an odd way to phrase it "What's wrong"... I tell her the eggs are not what I ordered. She shrugs and she looks at my plate, goes to speak with the server and shortly returns telling me and I quote "we are going to leave those on your plate and just get you new eggs". Again, odd response. What, am I supposed to just eat around the food I didn't order?! She walks away before it occurs to me that if they are going to be back there cooking eggs while I sit here with the rest of my food, then my food will get cold before the main part of my meal is still being prepared. So, I try to get their attention again, only this time the guy from the kitchen passes by and asks if everything is ok and I tell him I'm concerned that my food is getting cold while I wait for my eggs. He says and I quote again "Just eat your food, no one is going to take your plate away." WTH??!!! What is wrong with these people?!! I tell him that wasn't my concern. I was concerned about the food getting cold and I had to sit there and explain "I eat my potatoes with my eggs" - something I shouldn't have even had to explain. He doesn't say anything he just turns to go back to the kitchen as if he is going to resolve something - but didn't bother to share that plan with me. Moments later the female bartender returns and says "I'm going to take your plate and bring you a fresh dish". I say "thanks". The man returns with the new plate and says "over-medium" (like its a code word) only now the eggs are "over-hard" basically fried hard boiled eggs. I didn't want to bother explaining to these idiots how to cook eggs again so I decided to eat what I had before me. Already preparing my Google review. So, I ask a server the roles of the people who were tending to me. The blonde female was only a bartender but the man was the General Manager, Lucas. Lucas returns a short time later (no doubt having heard from the server, that I was asking around) and lays his business card in front of me. What Lucas, you think I want to open a franchise?!! Why would I want your card if you were part of the problem?! I did not leave a tip once I found out that leaving a tip meant the blonde rude bartender would share in it and Lucas comp'ed half my meal (without my asking). Seems to me Lucas had an epiphany that he had f'd up more than just his shirt tucking for the day. I will not be back. Food isn't that great to begin with so, why bother. Thanks Lucas and blonde chick for reminding me why I hadn't been there in a long...
Read moreThe hostess and waitress, Cambrean, were both amazing. They were very friendly, accommodating, and attentive. I would come back based on my interactions with them alone.
I ordered the Biscuits for a Cause, Smothered Chicken (with Mac & cheese and Parmesan & Rosemary Potato Cracklins as my sides), as well as a Peach Don't Kill My Vibe cocktail.
The food came out very quickly and the drink arrived shortly after.
Peach Don't Kill My Vibe cocktail: The cocktail has a peach & pineapple sangria. I couldn't taste any peach as the pineapple was overpowering, but the drink was pretty good. I would definitely order this again. It was refreshing and I didn't care about the peach flavor being missing.
Biscuits for a Cause: Even by themselves, the biscuits were surprisingly salty. The amount of salt in the dough had to be by accident. I can't explain it any other way. It came with blueberry jam that had whipped butter on top of it and a bottle of honey. The butter only made the saltiness worse. I found myself digging for the jam at the bottom or pouring honey over the biscuit as I attempted to eat pieces of it, but the taste of the biscuits was easily overpowered by the sweetness of the other options. I couldn't get past a 1/4 of one biscuit and the order comes with two.
Smothered Chicken (with Mac & cheese and Parmesan & Rosemary Potato Cracklins as my sides): I was excited with the presentation. It looked great, but it did not taste that way at all. It's extremely unfortunate. I honestly couldn't tell what the food was seasoned with because it tasted like nothing. Not a hint of salt, garlic, pepper, anything. It was odd. My hunger ended up turning into curiosity as I picked at it like a science experiment. The "smother" literally had to just be milk and flour. The entire plate was incredibly bland. Was this a kitchen dare? How could all of the options on my plate lack seasoning?
The cocktail was easily the most flavourful thing I was served. I would return for the staff and maybe to try the other drinks, but as far as food......
Read moreWe ate here today... the air conditioner was broken, but our table area had heat... not cold enough for that. I actually was sweating and the heat was making me feel sick.
The food wasn't awful... it came out in a decent time frame.. I ordered the tenders and fried green tomatoes. My husband had the chicken tortilla soup. The menu says it has jalapeño in it and my husband can't have that kind of spice but thought he would at least try it. He also had fried chicken with fried potatoes. We got our son scrambled eggs and fries because he wouldn't make a choice. The fries looked good. Crunch to them. The eggs.... well.... they may have tasted okay.. but I wouldn't have eaten them because they looked like they had sat in a hot griddle long enough to have burn marks on them. My husband liked the fried chicken and said it had good flavor. I tasted a bite as well, and it wasn't bad. He didn't eat more than one piece of the fried potatoes. He said the chicken tortilla soup was very good and not spicy at all. He ate all of that. The tenders I got were covered in Panko. They didn't taste like they had been cooked with any seasonings and were a bit dry. I ate one. The fried green tomatoes... I ate ocean my husband ate one. We both thought they were okay, but not something I would order again. I love fried green tomatoes, but they weren't like the ones I cool normally and just didn't have the flavor I was hoping for. Our server was nice enough, but was not very attentive at all. We never were offered a fill up on our drinks and ended the meal with less than a fourth of a glass full left. They did however make it a point to put us at a table that we were able to have our sons stroller with us for him to sit in. We were also sat very quickly. They had some 80's music playing and it wasn't too loud. Overall, I would say it's not a bad place, but maybe not a place I would rush to...
