Zafran Kabab Palace restaurant serves the freshest Pakistani cuisine that reminds us of home cooked meals our mothers prepared when we were young. The Owner Mr. Khan and his son are a treat around always there to make sure patrons are comfortable and enjoying. The food is the freshest we have had in a desi restaurant ever. We have tried ordering a la carte, their weekday and weekend buffet at different times and the quality is consistent and impressive. Our recommendation: Seekh Kebabs, Naan, Chicken Malai Tikka, Pakoray, Curry Pakoray and Daal. Although everything tastes amazing. So what is soooo good about this place. The food is fresh, the people who prepare it are passionate about what they do, they focus on freshness and the balance of spice and flavor is superb. Last and most importantly Mr. Khan and his son makes it feel like we are visiting our own home. So welcoming and loving. An example of freshness. The Naan during buffet were brought out as the demand increased but they never overloaded the trays so everyone can get a fresh crunchy naan instead of a soggy stale one. A little context about us. We are husband and wife from Long Island NY who loves traveling and eating. In July 2019 we visited Charlotte and came across Zafran. Mr. Khan greeted us and recommended his Seekh Kebab which were AMAZING. Since July my wife and I have traveled the world looking for best Naan and Seekh Kebabs. We did find awesome Naans in Shinjuku Tokyo, very good and expensive biryani in Paris, and the best Nihari near Queens Jubilee Walk London BUT when 2020 came around, we both only craved the Naan and Seekh Kebabs at Zafran Kebab in Harrisburg North Carolina. So we flew from NY to Charlotte for the weekend just to try Mr. Khan's special Pakistani Cuisine

I usually don’t write reviews, but after my experience at Zafran Restaurant, I feel compelled to share. My friends and I went there for a casual dine-in meal, and we ordered the 6 skewer kabob for $27.99 from the menu. Everything seemed normal until we got the bill. To our surprise, they charged us $35.97 instead of the advertised $27.99! When we asked about the difference, the staff claimed it was because the order was for “to-go,” but at no point did they inform us of this when we placed our order. We were never told that ordering the kabobs as “dine-in” would cost us more or that we would be charged for a take-out order. Why wasn’t this mentioned upfront? It’s frustrating to be caught off guard at the end of the meal when there’s no transparency from the beginning. Additionally, the kabobs were served to us on plates, as expected for a dine-in experience, and there was no mention that this would be a “to-go” order. If they had been upfront and communicated this at any point during the ordering process, we would have had a chance to make an informed decision. It’s disappointing to see this kind of hidden cost, and honestly, it felt like a sneaky move. If they plan on charging customers differently for take-out versus dine-in, they should definitely be more clear about it from the start. I won’t be coming back, and I would recommend others be cautious when ordering here. Transparency goes a long way in building trust with customers—something Zafran could definitely improve on.

I really wasn’t going to write this review, however, seeing the responses to some of the bad reviews from the restaurant has really struck a nerve in me. Being new to the Charlotte area, I was so excited to find this place and try it out! at first, it was amazing. everything tasted like home to me and i would come with my husband every time i missed my mom’s cooking. I’m currently 8 months pregnant, and the last time we were there i was about 4-5 months. my husband and i ordered chicken 65, kababs, and chicken biryani for dinner and as we were enjoying our meal, i noticed a dead cockroach on my plate. my husband went to the chef to complain and the response we received was, “we always check everything before we cook and serve.” clearly this statement indicated that this was a known issue but nothing was ever really done to prevent it. we ended up leaving the rest of our food, and did not pay. initially, we felt bad for how upset we got towards the chef and were not going to write this review, but looking at the responses to some of these bad reviews gave me a reason to speak up. truly disappointing situation, and even more disappointing to see the rudeness that is coming from the restaurant in response. maybe instead of focusing on writing these rude responses the restaurant could put their energy into combating the insect situation and ensuring their customers aren’t eating roaches or getting sick.

We went there to have some decent dinner after reading the wonderful reviews and really got disappointed, we waited for almost 50 mins for a chicken seek kabob and mutton dum biryani and when the items arrived we discovered that biryani not even warm and it was out of the microwave so asked the person who got me that and he said it’s fresh and asked if we can get hot biryani and he went inside and came back after 10 min with no mutton pieces and the very same biryani reheated from last night, this is not fresh and they claim that it’s fresh, the nan and the other item was ok not that great, we didn’t eat any biryani and ended up leaving there and not taking that home as it can’t be eaten the next day, we go to restaurant to eat some nice tasting food but it’s boring here, if you are like me read past reviews and wanted to go there save some time and go to a different place as I’m a desi and I can’t go wrong with what I’m saying about this food. There are other nice desi restaurants here in Charlotte so choose wisely. But at the end he gave partial refund for the not eaten biryani even though we wanted to pay the full amount he refused. The wait time shouldn’t be that long even if it takes long he should have mentioned that it will take sometime for a particular item that we were ordering. The funny thing is we came first and then later a family came, but they served the other family first and not ours . If you want to try the food go when you are not hungry, please don’t go like us when hungry, we literally disappointed and came back to hotel and glad we have some cookies to fill the stomach for the...

My experience with Zafran started with very warm hearted welcome with strict NO! to tea after meals (our bad), taste is good but only few dishes out of the whole menu are served specially chicken Nihari which I loved (not even if you order a week before). Still this restaurant is close to our place so we prefer going few times in a month but we never got chicken nihari again rather the old man suggested we should eat beaf nihari knowing that we are Indians. Still we took it lightly but it became almost a ritual for him to comment something funny like this every time! Like I went for a buffet in anticipation to try everything that they make (if they) apart from the taste which is good I found very small spoons and dishes as if they want us to eat less! Anyways this time I called on phone and requested few alloo parathas n as usual the old man forced me to order more! as if his business is not going well so I ordered few more knowing that we might get over fed still, but to my shock when I refused to order any further he called me with slangs knowing that I am a lady still, when we went there and asked about his attitude he simply changed to a gentleman. It’s not funny to talk to anyone’s wife or any woman like this, now we are not interested in this place at all. His sons are really well behaved I met his wife also she is very sweet but quite! (Probably due to her hisband) but the old man is very greedy and yet he comments something on anyone her wants to like I saw him speaking about his country with lot of pride to an American couple who almost got terrorized listening to him 😆 he is...
