We found this place while searching on. Happy Cow for vegan options in Charlottesville. This place popped up in two different locations (they have one in another city also with reduced hours). I was really excited to try this because the menu is ALL VEGAN and mostly Gluten Free.
There were so many choices that I didn't know where to start, honestly. So we ended up splitting a few different dishes to try and taste the diversity they had to offer.
I got a Chai Latte and my husband got a Matcha Latte to drink. Both were absolutely delicious.
For food, we decided to try the following:
Rainbow Terra Salad Umami Potatoes Chickpea Tuna Boats Okono Cakes (we really wanted the Crab Cakes, which were on the summer specials list, but they have wheat protein in them, so not GF... unfortunately)
All of these were fantastic! I love that they used purple cabbage and carrots for the Okono Cakes, which seem similar to Latke's, but not nutrient dense.
In all honesty, I wanted to go back for dinner to try some of the other options, but we weren't in the same area anymore.
Overall, the food and service was great. Lance was very knowledge and friendly and also gave us some great insight about other cool things to do in the area that the locals like. Much...
Read moreThe food here is absolutely delicious and everyone who works at Botanical is so nice! They create such a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. We got the Tuna Salad Sandwich (chickpea), the Crispy Chix (mushroom), and the French Onion Soup with Cheesy Garlic Bread. All of which was phenomenal and tasted so fresh. It felt like each item had a lot of thought and care put into making it! I wish the French Onion Soup wasn’t just a winter menu item because I’m in love with it and am most definitely going to be craving it all the time! Also, I love that they use MarieBette sourdough for the sandwich because that just took it to another level. I’d be so happy if there was vegan food like this where I live. I did a photoshoot here a little while back and told the owner I would come back to eat soon. Unfortunately, I didn’t have another shoot in Charlottesville for a hot minute so wasn’t able to do so until this week when my partner and I ate here for Valentine’s Day. I’m so happy we did but now I’m mad at myself for not eating here sooner-it’s definitely in my top 10 favourite restaurants! I’m in Charlottesville again today for work so I’m planning on stopping by to grab some food and I’m beyond excited 😄 I highly recommend eating here if you...
Read moreThis is a wonderful place! From the warm, friendly service to the menu and the ambiance the Botanical is a plant based gem! The food is delicious! So glad we found this on our travels and we enjoyed it so much that we stopped here again on our way back! For drinks we enjoyed the house made rosemary lemonade and Chai latte. For our meals, we shared the street corn, and I had the crispy oyster mushroom sandwich with the very yummy sweet curry rice and my husband had the cauliflower bowl. On our 2nd trip, we shared the fabulous sticky cauliflower and rice, and I had the very tasty breakfast burrito, my husband had the kale salad and my daughter had chickpea tuna sandwich with that sweet curry rice. The desserts are also delicious. We had both the jam bars and chocolate chip cookies. This will definitely be a returning spot on our future trips to her college. Also appealing, are the wonderful shops surrounding it. We did some shopping at the bookstore across from it and the boutique next to it, as well as, in the gaming store around the corner. Just know the parking can be tricky. We just found it easier to use the paid parking lot about a block away, which is just $2 an hour. We paid for two hours to enjoy lunch and...
