It should first be known that, as with any pizza place, I as a vegan am reviewing for a marinara pizza with toppings. "Marinara pizza!" the meat eater might say, "that would have to be awful without cheese". Sometimes in the US, it is. But sometimes, when one actually focuses on making a high quality sauce, when one's toppings are little creations themselves, it can become something much, much more. My disappointments were simple: a bit too little sauce and bread that was a bit too cooked (I'm an admitted fan of the flop, or even moreso, the have-to-eat-with-fork-and-knife). But they ended there. The sauce was magnificent, dare I say the best in Charlottesville, tied only perhaps with Brick Oven. It was rich, it was oily, it had a quality tomato taste to it, and I highly enjoyed dipping every extra piece of bread in a side dish of it I got. And the toppings, oh let me tell you about the toppings. We start with the high quality onion and peppers (red and yellow) that were sauteed before meeting my lovely little pizza, little bursts of flavor that weren't so greasy as to make the pizza soggy. And the piece de resistance? The garlic. They took whole cloves and roasted them on their own tray, then tossing them with salt after, carefully placing the cloves across the pizza. The toppings were a tad expensive, but overall this was a well priced fantastic place that is obviously putting a care into the craft that most other pizza places on Charlottesville are not. (BTW my pizza was in fact rated as a "I would eat that" by my meat eating company who consumed two slices herself.
TLDR: Best toppings in the Ville, maybe best sauce, okay bread,...
Read moreWe came in here looking for a snack and were blown away!! The owner is kind and answered all the questions we had. He prepares pizzas on the spot for whatever you're feeling, and he really knows his stuff. The toppings were thick and plentiful and it was hands-down the best crust we've ever had. It claims to be "New York style" pizza which I've never had, but if that was true New York fashion then call me a New Yorker because I'm SOLD. We'll definitely be coming back, but next time we're bringing friends and family. Thank you for a great experience! Notes: we got a slice of sausage pizza. It wasn't crumbled, ground sausage, but thick, juicy slices of sausage! The BBQ chicken bacon pizza also had nice, large pieces of bacon and there were toppings in every bite. I'm used to BBQ chicken pizza being BBQ sauce based- but I didn't mind the tomato and BBQ mix that was...
Read moreThis place is horrible 😢, we placed an order for (2) pies, one pepperoni and a cheese pie, not only did we place the order nearly a hour and a half prior but to my surprise once I returned to my company function we begin to pass out plates for all to eat, only to taste burnt pizza, it tasted horrible, I was embarrassed because I was the individual selected by my coworkers to pick our monthly luncheon eatery. The service is not good, contacted the establishment in regards to the issue and was given a lecture on how long this establishment has been in business. Not sure what this had to do with me paying $28.65 for two extremely burnt pizza pies, I gather that one honest bad review won't effect this business, but I'm sure going to continue to voice my opinion as to what my...
