I was excited to try this place after passing it before their official opening. I found their website and saw a $4 cinnamon roll and $4 blueberry corn muffin on the menu — both of which I planned to order this morning. Unfortunately, that menu was already out of date on their very first weekend: there was no blueberry anything, and the cinnamon roll was listed as $8.50 on the printed menu.

There was a couple with a stroller ahead of me and another gentleman behind me — all of us left before placing an order. We were never acknowledged by anyone who worked there — not even a quick “Welcome, be with you in a second.” Instead, a man behind the counter spent several minutes chatting with a customer about how she found the place and what other restaurants she liked.

After that customer paid, the man disappeared into the kitchen. I waited a bit longer after the others had left, but still no acknowledgment. The barista working the espresso machine never turned around once. I finally decided to leave, as well.

On my way out, I nearly slipped and fell — they had just mopped the floor with an excessive amount of water, right in the middle of customer traffic during open hours.

Needless to say, not a great first impression. I really hope ownership addresses these issues so others have a better experience — and don’t...

So, I came here excited to try because I'd been seeing many people post about this place and it looked super cute and the drinks looked delicious. I came in around 10 am and it wasn't too busy, but there were definitely people in the space who were working- the atmosphere was great and decorated beautifully. I came in wanting to try the Matcha Lassi drink, but they were out of mango so I got the Lavender Sea Salt Latte, instead. IMO it was not good, hence the 2/5 for the food. The lavender flavor failed to come through and the latte tasted very watered down. I was disappointed because many people said that the LSSL, specifically, was really tasty. This leads me to believe that its more of a consistency issue than a recipe issue. Regardless, its disappointing when you spend $8+ on a latte for it to not have much flavor. The customer service, in my experience, was good. Staff was very friendly. I'll for sure go back to try the Matcha Lassi and even the anchovy toast and hopefully...

Finally Sloop and Idonije take a W. After previously being underwhelmed by Signature and The Staley. Buttercup delivers on its promise of quality coffee and drinks with a small yet strong menu of baked goods. Staff was friendly we will see upon more revisits soon for the evening's. My only wish is for a proper cold brew + breakfast sandwich from Idonijes short lived breakfast pop-up.

The Iced Americano supplements the lack of Cold Brew currently and the espresso was surprisingly well done. As a former Roaster I look forward to Dunkin'

Matcha Lassi: This drink was PERFECT, not to sweat but balanced enough so all the notes came up appropriately. I'm so tired of being served overly sweetened drinks in this city.

Cinnamon Roll: a classic done just as you imagine the perfect one you imagine in your head.

H&C Croissant: The little touch of Parm on top when heated up was absolute perfect touch. Probably my favorite Croissant...

My fiance and I came here on their grand opening for their evening drinks+eats. Everything was spectacular! We had booked a reservation an hour prior and were seated right as we walked in. Our server, Sam, was super friendly and checked in on us frequently without being overbearing in any way. The drinks were great- my fiance got the old fashioned and I got a make your own grattachecca but I didn’t know what flavors to choose so I had the bartender make me whatever they wanted. Needless to say it was so good! The Caesar salad was very flavorful along with the truffle pizzetta; the dough is so fluffy and light… it was very tasty! We finished off with the cookie butter and pistachio gelato- both were great but the pistachio was next level. Also, they have the same management as Oliver’s around the block (aka another great place). We will definitely be back!

I was very excited to try this place! It still feels like they’re in the soft opening phase right now. Looks like they painted and reupholstered from the previous cafe lounge and kept the same layout. I only went in the morning for the cafe. The pastry was nice and savory. The espresso & tonic was yummy but a tad too sweet. It was relatively fast but did seem like only one was working as a barista. This neighborhood loves a cafe so I expect it’ll get busier. I hope they end up doing a pre/online order option for the cafe when it does. I’m excited to try the lounge portion!
