I drove 25 minutes to the BevMo in Chico to pick up a bottle of Lillet (they’re the only store in the area that carries it). When I got to the counter, I realized I didn’t have my ID. I’m 42 years old and very clearly over 30, but I was refused the purchase — which I understand is policy for alcohol.
But here’s where it became ridiculous: I decided to at least buy Pellegrino sparkling water so I wasn’t leaving empty handed, and they refused to sell me that too. Sparkling water is not alcohol.
To make matters worse, my 20-year-old daughter was with me, and the cashier told me that even if I went all the way home to get my ID, they still wouldn’t sell to me simply because she was present and under 21. In the end, I had to call a completely different person to come down to the store just to buy my wine.
It was insulting, a waste of time and gas, and unnecessarily humiliating. I’ll still have to make the trip since BevMo is the only place around that carries Lillet, but corporate needs to revisit how far employees are allowed to take this “card everyone” policy — because this was unreasonable and...
Read moreI was at Bevmo Chico today at 4:55 pm. The cashier was on the phone when I got in line. She continued to go on and on about champagne with the caller. She admitted that she doesn’t really care for champagne so she probably shouldn’t be giving recommendations. She finally gave the very patient customer in front of me his change. She never looked at him or apologized for being on the phone. She continued to talk to the caller. I said “wow” to the couple in front of me as I noticed how disappointed they were with their service. When it was my turn to check out and she was still on the phone, I said “You need to put them on hold, it’s very rude and the guy in front of me was pissed.” Her reply was “well it sucks to be him”. I’ve always had very friendly service at BevMo so I wanted to let you know how my experience went today. Also, I didn’t see any other BevMo employees on the floor while I was there. Perhaps the cashier had no choice but to engage in a phone...
Read moreBevMo has a very large selection of alcoholic beverages. I had been looking all over for a certain brand of wine and couldn't find it anywhere I used to be able to get it at several other stores but they stopped carrying it. Someone suggested I go to BevMo. I called BevMo to see if they had the special blackberry wine that I was looking for. They confirm that they had 20 bottles of it. I visited the BevMo store in Chico and sure enough they had the blackberry wine that I called about. They told me if I got a BevMo Club card that I could get it at a lower price. So I filled out the form to get the BevMo card and sure enough I was able to purchase the blackberry wine and a big discount. Thanks BevMo for caring the special blackberry wine. This is a very sweet wine as it is made strictly from blackberries. So I can only drink about one ounce in the evening. I would consider it a...
