They really have made a huge upgrade in comparison with pre-remodel. The music inside was a little too loud which made it hard to converse. We decided because of that, to sit outside. The back patio is nice with some cornhole. They have small propane fire pits that would be awesome in the winter, but they really do need something to take the edge off of the heat. The inside is spacious, but not with a lot of seating. Maybe they could do some misters or something? They should also try to find a solution to the ton of flies. One flew into one of our drinks. I got a Mexican Mule and it was less than mediocre as it tasted very sweet. My husband got a beer and a blackberry cider, not disappointed. The BBQ burger was delicious and really good basic fries. I got the ahi tuna tacos and wasnât really impressed. Not everyone likes wasabi, so I was surprised when there was wasabi drizzled all over the plate and tacos. Nothing about the food or drinks wowâed we had a group of 8 who all ordered food and drinks. Waiter never asked if we wanted more drinks and when 3 of our party needed to leave he brought the check for the rest of the table as well. My friend said âI didnât know I was only allowed to have one drinkâ. I will say if you get the pretzel and cheese you will be impressed with the size. Itâs massive.
Overall I think La Salles has upgraded, but itâs too pricey for not being...
Read moreI was a returning customer, but this last visit ensured that I will not be returning. After adding my name on the wait list, my girlfriend and I were "forgotten" as several other customers who did not have a reservation and were there after us were seated at the rear patio. When I confronted the guy at the counter, he was quick to offer us seating... outside at a table near the entrance to the parking lot. The furthest table away from the establishment. One of many empty tables that were outside since before we arrived. Not a single "I'm sorry sir" or "My bad", just a here take this table and go away. We left angry and disappointed. We are from San Diego and always visited the establishment, but no more. Management would have to do something to ensure that we would want to revisit this place. On another note, if it was not for this happening, we would not have found Kalico Kitchen. The staff was friendly and treated us like family. Not only that, the food was spectacular and made fresh to order. This was the silver lining of this bad experience...
Read moreThe ONLY reason this place is getting 2 stars is for the service and the ambiance. If this review were based solely on the food, it would deserve 0 stars. I will start with the ambiance- this is a HUGE restaurant so they were able to work out the social distancing quite well. There is a HUGE outdoor patio area so you have the option of eating indoor or outdoor, and I was fortunate to be able to bring along my pup as long as she wasn't running around. Next, the service - our server was so attentive and accommodating. Finally, the food. Ugh, the food. Ordered the salmon dip as an appetizer and that was off to a bad start as it was more mayo than salmon. Needless to say, that was sent back. Then we ordered the cobb salad and that was just a salty mess of chopped deli meats, olives, blue cheese, and egg on romaine lettuce. And finally, as the entree, ordered the jambalaya pasta which was by far the most untraditional (in a bad way) dish ever. La Salles has a lot of potential to become a hot restaurant, but they need to lift their culinary...
