Honestly I left pretty ticked off tonight. I was talking to family and friends, didnt hear the waitress talk. She tapped me on the shoulder ( when I was 3 seats in on my table and she could've asked them to talk to me vs reaching across everyone to touch my shoulder) and told me to pretty much shut up and listen to her. I stopped and ordered my drink. She came back for food, I kept a eye out for her and she said " oh youre listening now and not talking." She then went on all night stopping at the table and making such rude comments to me to the point my friends mom went off on her and said dont tip her because I was the reservation maker and she couldn't even respect me. Then she kept coming back making comments on me ( I never met this woman, never been to captain zacks and wanted to go because I heard raving reviews, reserved a table for 8 tonight bragging about how good I heard it was) the people I was with eventually said to her shes being ignorant and rude, she said she doesnt have to be nice because tables over 6 has a immediate 20% gratuity so her tip is already made for her. She also made a comment that she wont get a tip from the table she dropped food on but couldve still got it if she did on us because its included. 100% will never go again, the group is went with said they wont go again out of how rude she was, not even just to me but to every single person. All of us also own places on the island so its not like we would only be there once a year if service was at least respectful. Was not a good experience and Im not one to normally complain. If you want to have a nice waitress, there may be some but our bill totalled over 300 for all of us and it wasnt worth it due to the harassment we all got from our waitress. And if the 20% is what makes you not be nice to customers then the 20% mandate needs to go. I use to waitress and I would never treat customers the way we were treated. 100% not worth the hype, miserable experience and I have 7 others who would agree. Including the mom who stood up for me when I didnt myself because of how rude the waitress was. Would've asked for a manager but I couldn't even get respect asking for BBQ sauce she forgot to bring out then tossed them at my plate when she did bring them. I will speak to a manger if they would like to though, but there was no point in asking her as we all wouldve just got a smart comment back. The best experience was leaving finally. Never again will I go or offer...
Read moreAugust 2025 review- came back again, because as I said last year, this place has what you want in a beach town. This year our experience was even better. While we did have to wait a little longer, it gave us time to shop a little before coming back to a table ready for us (45 mins). The fried Mac n cheese were perfect appetizer! I ordered the Blackened Cod tacos with spicy boom boom/yum yum/bum bum sauce. It was the best dish we have ordered so far! The best fish tacos I’ve had on the island as of yet! The Old Bay fries are not as could as they could be. Thick dry chip with a little Old Bay flavoring, but my husband loved them. One child got the burger again and loved it! The other child Fried Cod sandwich. It was huge…the cod could have fit on two buns. It was cooked well, but the batter could have a little more salt or seasoning. My husband had the Fried Flounder with chips. Same feeling…needed more salt/seasoning or crispiness, but the basket was empty at the end, still delicious!
Tammy the waitress was beyond kind and very attentive. The hostesses were equally as kind. As we said last year, we still highly recommend.
August 2024 original review- Very nice hostesses who despite there being quite a long line, were able to get us a table fairly quickly (15 mins). Went to the bar to have a drink while waiting. The bar was a boat in the middle of the restaurant, which is fully screened in deck (a must in Chincoteague). It was a busy night with not enough waiter’s which is why the wait was a little longer. Once seated we quickly ordered and the waitress was very friendly. Food came quickly. The kids both got cheeseburgers, which were adequate but not great. Husband got the coconut shrimp, which were very good. I got the fried cod, which was adequate but left a lot to be desired. Dipping it in the tartar sauce made it sufficient. Sweet potato fries were soggy, but the regular fries were good. Overall we would recommend because the atmosphere is EXACTLY what you want in...
Read moreI never post bad reviews but this was a horrible experience and have tried to contact restaurant by email and by phone with no response.
We went to treat ourselves before second round of breast cancer surgery and radiation starts but this is what we got. We were told to check y'all out by a local. We got there had to wait in small entrance for about 15 minutes before being seated. We sat and realized there were numerous tables free why did we have to wait. Any way we ordered after getting yellow water. Which was disgusting. Then we ordered seafood platter and crab cakes. The food was way over done. But maybe this is how y'all like your dinner. So I had to get up and go to the bar and request boxes. I was given a horrible look. But it came and I boxed it. Next we were leaving and lady at front called me sir and asked if I want a bag I said that is great( I have extremely feminine voice) no apology but rather complained about bags not being open. We got home both of us exhausted. We talked this morning about how horrible the food, service, quality of staffing and then being mistaken for guys . But this was 115.00 bill includes tip. It was horrible service and food. I understand staffing can be hard but making people wait when tables are free( wrong), giving yellow waters( disgusting and wrong) being given way overcooked food( wrong) having patron get up to get boxes then given them nasty look( very wrong ) of course we tipped well because that is who we are no matter how things are, then being called sir ( misgengered and complaining staff) as we walk out.
We have both even contacted restaurant to try to make things right before leaving this public post on the service. No answer. Not even an apology. Food was horrible and so was service.
We went to captain Zach's in Chincoteague on Saturday 10/7/2023 around 1500 hours. We had a male server and paid with...
