DRIFT — Restaurant in Chincoteague

Went here 2 days in a row. Wanted to give these guys a second shot to get things right. Don't get me wrong I have worked in the service industry and understand how things sometimes can get screwed up. The food is very good. We ordered the pilgrim twice as well as a Cuban and a turkey pesto all delicious every time. However, what was not so great was we placed our order over the phone and were told it would be 20 min to a half hour the first day for our food only to get there and find out they had lost our ticket and part of our order was missing. We then had to wait an additional half hour making it a total of an hour wait. The second day there was also similar issues, the 20 to 30 min wait time was about 50 min again and part of our order was forgotten again this time it was chicken from a salad and some croutons. It was very apparent while waiting both days we were not the only people that had mistakes made. We came with another party also that had their order made wrong as well. I wanted to try a new sandwich place on the island and came across this place. The sandwich itself was pretty good. I got a turkey ranch blt. However, no one wore hairnets or hats and I ended up getting a hair on my sandwich so I only ate the one half. I was also surprised with how unorganized this shop is. The person taking orders was just shouting back names of sandwiches so that is what the ladies in the back had to go off of. They missed one guys order completely and he was in before me and another girl. They gave me a chicken salad so I told them I ordered the blt’s. They checked the computer and saw it said blt and fixed it. I think this shop has a potential to be very good. Like I said, the sandwich itself was good. But they need a better way for the kitchen staff to keep track of orders and better kitchen...

Drift by AJ's has become my local go-to spot! Whether I'm looking for lunch for myself, or a catering for a business event, it's always Drift. Their sandwiches and lunch specials are SOOO delicious, not to mention reasonably priced. (You have to try the Pilgrim Panini and anything in their bakery case!) We recently used Drift's catering service for our employee appreciation boat tour and couldn't have been happier. Very fresh, generous portions, and delivered right on time to our venue! Drift also provides catering (on a smaller scale) for our staff and manager meetings. Even when it's very last minute, Jeff always says "yes!" with a smile. He and his staff are top-notch!
