After living downtown for almost 5 years, I’ve been clamoring for this kind of quick service burger restaurant, especially because I’m not a fan of Frisch’s (and the downtown one closed anyway). Milkman certainly delivers on that with smash burgers served in a cute old school themed diner. I had been to revolution rotisserie when it occupied the same location but the inside of milkman is a completely different layout and vibe. They offer a few different versions of smash burger which is what my gf and I got and it was perfect. They also had some other food options like chickens sandwiches and hotdogs. Fries came with fry sauce that really hit the spot, the one thing that I kind of missed was some fry seasoning like what steak and shake, or Freddy’s has. Then of course you have a selection of both regular and boozy shakes. I went with my favorite flavor of cookies and cream and it was super creamy and full of Oreo chucks. They are also super smart and serve the shakes with a thicker straw which a lot of places make the mistake of not doing, especially when you have shakes with chunks of cookie in them. Overall it was a great and very fast experience. We were in and out in probably 30 minutes. Aside from the fry seasoning I will note it’s a little expensive for what you get, but honestly it seems that’s the case for most restaurants downtown these days so I’m pretty used to it. Highly recommend for anyone that’s been craving a great smash burger or thick...
Read moreLocated in Over-the-Rhine, Milkman is an upscale lunch and dinner diner-style restaurant. They are on Race Street just south of Washington Park.
Orders are placed at the counter. The menu features "juicy burgers," fried chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, nuggets, and boozy shakes. If you don't want a boozy shake, there are unalcoholic versions available as well, in addition to canned/bottled beer, soda, juice, etc. all available to grab yourself just before you place your order.
The food is cooked to order but comes out really fast! I was happy to see that they have fried chicken sandwiches on the menu since I don't eat burgers. The club with swiss, bacon, shredded lettuce, tomato, and garlic herb mayo ($11.99) was really good. The thicken was thick and juicy and the sauce was great. The buffalo and damn hot chicken sandwiches are also very good. It's hard to go wrong.
As far as boozy shakes go, I recommend the Grasshopper with bourbon, creme de menthe, chocolate chips, and whipped cream ($12.99). However, I think it is hard to go wrong with any of their choices.
My only complaint is that prices are a little high since the sandwiches do not come with a side dish, but I recommend sharing the order of fries or onion rings anyway, making the prices not too bad. This is a great place to bring your kids and we will for sure be...
Read moreVery good food, but the kid at the register seemed to be very new and confused. Totally fine but someone else came up and helped him take our order and they still got it wrong. Not wrong enough that I wouldn't eat it, but definitely wrong. I ordered a double cheeseburger and fries. I also asked for the kids menu and they told me it was new so they had to go get it. I asked if they had a basic kid's chicken and fries meal and they said yes. I said then we will take that. When they brought the food, I realized they only rang me up for a single cheeseburger not a double, and they brought chicken but with no fries. I then asked, does the kids meal not come with fries? They said no. I didnt understand how it was a "meal" without fries when I could've ordered chicken bites on the menu, plus I specifically asked for fries either way. Then to get the fries that I thought came with the kid's "meal," I had to go pay for another order of fries. Also, the tablet prompts for a tip for each order, so I ended up tipping twice when there was really no need to. I will come back though, but definitely need to work out the kinks with the kid's "meals," and read back orders to make sure...
