I’ve come to this branch of Skyline Chili whenever I’ve visited Cincinnati, and love it. The food is flavorful and the staff is cheerful. The portions are very generous. (Be warned: even their “Regular” bowl of chili, spaghetti and cheese is a lot to eat. ). It was pretty busy when a colleague and I visited it (and I can see why), but the service was still very prompt. I wish there were one like this in New York.
Update 8/11/2025. As I regularly do when I visit Cincinnati, I came back to the Downtown (E. 4th St) Skyline Chili branch for lunch today. It was as good as ever. The server, like the last several times I was there, was (though a different person) as unusually pleasant as the last several. And the portions continue to be very generous. But this time, after I forgot how genererous even a "regular" sized portion would be, I asked our server for a takeout container, so I could bring home what I couldn't eat. She cheerfully gave me one, and the cashier (a different person) asked if he could give me a bag and utensils--things I hadn't thought about. While it's very clean, the decor isn't fancy (the only way in which it doesn't get a stellar grade), but the food is first rate, and the service is very fast. Definitely 5 stars overall. Once again, highly...
Read moreToday I visited a place called Skyline Chili. Server: Tone Cook/Manager: Patrick Cashier: Bee Location: 4th Street & Sycamore
Walked in. Nice atmosphere and very BIG & nice establishment. People however aren't so great. Sat down ordered my food. Ask Tone shouldn't he be writing it down so that he will not forget. "Nah I got it" as he replied. First thing is that they failed to get the extreme cheese on my 3 way and hot dogs. So that was the first straw then they didn't add any onions to either as I asked. Tone continued to add ice to my drink after I asked him not to. The first hot dog was soggy after sitting in the chili that was spilled onto the plate. They served this to me as if this was a regular thing. So all in all I give the service & food a 0.5 out of 10. That's because the business is in a pretty descent area. Tone & Bee both could careless about great customer service or satisfaction. I would recommend that no one ever hire either of the two people. Epically Bee. Also bathroom had a feeling like it was in a hole in the wall by the way it looked. I know restaurants are short on employees but Bee was just up front with not a lot to do so in my opinion she could have easily gone and checked...
Read moreExceptional service and the location was very clean and nice. We all tried the chili for the first time and well, it certainly isn’t for everyone. I can’t pinpoint what I didn’t like about it except for the fact that I am experiencing mild hallucinations and heart palpitations, and I only ate half of the bowl. If you are from out of town and want to try the signature dish, I would recommend getting the smallest size and bringing the largest bottle of tums. This meal was the biggest disappointment since - well, the 2022 Cincinnati Reds. The only way I would come back is if God told me that eating forkfuls of shredded cheese would revive local gorillas or would ban the Cleveland Browns from the AFC north. The fact that people frequent Skyline chili makes me nervous for the future of our nation. The servers were very kind however and it ain’t their fault I made the decision...
