Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Cincinnati

I used to come here regularly late nights after my 2nd shift job and never had any problems. Recently, however, it's nothing but problems. As others have said, this location has some of the slowest service I've seen. Now, I get that Steak N Shake isn't your typical fast food restaurant, and I do expect to wait a bit longer than some of the other places, but I've sat a full 3-4 mins at the drive thru speaker before anyone even bothers to tell me they'll be with me in just a minute. Even when I'm the only car or 1 of 2 cars in the line, it's always a 20 min wait. What really made me post this review though, is the fact that no matter what I do, I can't get seem to get my correct order. I literally can't remember the last time they've made my order correctly. I'm one of those creatures of habit that orders the same thing 99% of the time, and here, that's a Cheesy Cheddar steakburger with cheese and pickle only, and a cheese fry. Seems pretty simple, right? More simple than the usual people in front of me that have 4 different orders with all kinds of crazy requests, anyway, but I digress... I've been served the wrong meal so many times here that recently I've started confirming it with them - and in a polite, oh, I'm just making sure that I said the right thing, kind of way. I'll order, they'll tell me my total and I'll ask "Oh, hey, I did say cheese and pickle only on that burger, right?" and when they say "Yeah, you did" I respond "Oh, great, just checking, thanks." In my past 3 experiences, I've gotten 1 with cheese, onion, tomato... 1 with everything BUT pickle... and 1 that wasn't even the right burger at all. And I can't even pick off the things I don't like as I would with any other restaurant because the toppings get embedded in the melted cheddar cheese. Tonight - I ordered the same thing, confirmed it just the same, AND decided to check the burger before leaving. It looked correct.... only saw cheese and pickles... but then I get home, take a big bite... BAM, mouthful of mustard. I. Hate. Mustard. Into the trash it goes... and now I'm still hungry. Oh... and by the way, that cheese fry I order each time... wanna guess how many times I got that side of cheese sauce, in spite of the fact that I pay $1 extra for the cheese sauce each time? Did you guess 0 times? Well, it was 1 time so you'd be wrong, but I'm not surprised you'd guess 0. Even so, 1 time out of 4 is a...

It was horrible. When I went there last, it was an old lady waitress. She was getting into it with a customer, the customer was complaining that she's been waiting a whole hour with no drinks, and at least she should've gotten the drinks. Anyway my 3 kids an I standing to be seated but she never addresses us, so I stands there for over 10 min, then I have to ask the waitress can we sit where we like or wait for you to sit us like the sign say, she was rude talking about sit any where you want. The waitress & the other lady before me got into it again but worse b/c the waitress isn't doing anything she actually sat down. Another mother comes in with kids as well. Do you know she didn't sit them to a table either, but she did walk up to they table when they seated themselves, wail all this going on a dude walks in yelling I JUST WANT MY CASH BACK NOW, by this time 15-20min goes past, so I go up to the cash register an complain on the waitress to the manager that's giving back money to the man that was yelling, b/c clearly she's not doing her job an not waiting on us period no drinks hi nothing, an on top of all that go to a family that she seen come in after me. Wail I'm complaining they telling me that they was under staff and they haven't even served the other people and they been here a hour, wail we are having that conversation, the lady that was into it when I 1st came in done got into it again with the old lady waitress, this time the lady cussing calling the waitress B's, so the manger like I'm calling the police on that 1. I just told the manger me & my kids are leaving right now! The lady was right hate to say it even with the cussing, because the waitress was being rude talking about god got you to the lady and she ain't got time tell them to get your drinks, as she sat down, she was even asking people did they want her job unacceptable, I'm calling corporate on them cause they kicked that lady and her kids out and they was rude cars rapped around the building men yelling completely chaos, an my kids seen all that my 2 year old was crying cause he was hungry we just went to McDonald's he was even...

This really was a bad experience all around. There was only one other table when my friends and I arrived. We quickly ordered our burgers and let the server know we had a movie to get to at a certain time, and that we wanted our check early so we could leave right after eating. We never saw our server again. After our food sat in the window for 10 minutes, we paid and asked for it to be bagged up since we were out of time.

Being in such a hurry, I'd forgotten my hat at the table, so we went back after the movie. I mentioned it to a different server who watched as I went to collect it (still at the table we'd been at 2 hours earlier), and she told me she was about to throw it away. They should have put it aside for when their customer came to collect it.

My friends decided that we should get shakes since we were there so we started looking through the menu and I asked about the difference between a few types. It wasn't until another customer angrily asked if they were about to make us shakes when the server told us they were short staffed and not making shakes at all.

The staff at both times seemed very inattentive and completely lacking any kind of customer service. I really don't think I'll be back...
