Update 2023: 5 stars → 3 stars. The bagels are still top-notch, but I really have a huge problem with them making a very skimpy lox bagel. 4 oz of smoked salmon on a bagel has been the standard for forever. Their lox bagel now only has 2 oz… not even enough to be satisfying. I love a nice lox bagel but that's just a massive letdown. $10 for a lox bagel with only 2 oz of salmon is a ripoff. $16 for a lox bagel with 4 oz of salmon is far more expensive than anywhere else in this entire city (this is not Chicago / SF / NYC). Please bring the lox bagel prices back to reality.
I'm so excited for OTR to get a bagel shop!
The Bagelry soft opened today at their first brick & mortar location which is at 14th & Walnut in OTR. The grand opening is Friday October 5th and then they'll be open 7 days a week. I'd had their bagels a few times at Findlay Market and Second Sunday, so I was excited to check it out.
I ordered the bacon, egg & cheddar bagel sandwich on a pumpkin spice bagel (cause basic is life). Overall it was great. The eggs were fluffy and the bacon was crisp. The only change I'd suggest to the bagel sandwich itself is to add a bit of cream cheese.
They also have local coffee available from Urbana Cafe!
The ordering and pick up experience was pretty smooth and very fast. I was in and out in 5 minutes, and they have a standing bar around the windows if you want to stay and eat. I definitely encourage you to come by and...
Read moreLove the Bagelry! Their bagels are amazing and we especially love the build your own bagel sandwiches. I'm always wary with breakfast sandwiches with that kind of egg you're getting, I'm a little picky with my eggs, but eggs from the Bagelry have always been real eggs, fresh, and delicious, like everything else. They're doing great with taking precautions due to COVID. Recently placed a pick up order, super easy, took literally less than a minute to hop out of the car, grab my order, and hop back in. I know my food sat a little bit from when I ordered(had to drive down), but it was still warm, fresh, and tasty. Definitely a great place to grab takeout from or delivery, don't let the lack of in person ordering deter you. Staff have always been super friendly and helpful. Little pricey, but definitely worth it for a...
Read moreGenerally when I think of bagels, I start thinking about donuts and end up at Holtmans. But that has less to do about bagels and more to do with my waistline. However, after discovering The Bagelry in OTR, I see many breakfasts here in my future.
These bagels are a step above everything else in the city. Some bagel shops (ie. Bruegger’s) have boring dense bagels without any other textures. You won’t find that problem here. These bagels are crispy on the outside with an alluring bit of chewiness that hits the palette perfectly. Some people like their bagels with a smear of cream cheese. I like mine stacked high with bacon and eggs and sausage. Whatever your pleasure, this place has you covered.
So next time you’re in the mood for an amazing bagel and you’re closer to Cincinnati than NYC, make the drive to...
