My first experience here was pretty rough, there was one person ahead of me and 1 person sitting and eating. Before I even got to order both the people ahead of me got their order made wrong so they had to get remade, I didn’t mind waiting a few minutes. The people ahead of me got pretty impatient with the workers so I ordered a simple cheddar bagel with dill cream cheese. It took maybe 10 minutes for them to make it and didn’t even toast it, that’s fine, whatever. But then she handed me my bagel and I left, and I really should’ve checked first because I got a cheddar jalepeno bagel with normal cream cheese. Neither of which I ordered.
So then this past Thursday I thought I’ll give them another try, maybe they were just trying to work out the kinks in the first few days of being open. So this time I wanted a bacon egg and cheeses. Which any New Yorker expects a simple bagel, with bacon, egg, and cheese on it. But they had this “new and improved” bacon egg and cheese “soufflé”. And I said sure I’ll give it a try whatever. But this was a premade egg patty like a McDonald’s egg McMuffin sorta situation. It tasted ok, but for a $15 BEC… this soufflé barely had maybe 1 square inch of bacon chopped up in it, was maybe 1/2 inch thick, and had some sort of oily cheese on it. Thrown in between a bagel, nothing else… for $15. It would’ve been fine if the whole sandwich was maybe $6. And that’s pushing it.
I’ve never left a bad review for anything ever in my life. But for the both times trying this place out and for them to go terribly wrong, I had to do it. It’s just so disappointing. And just maybe once they’re open for a few months they’ll figure stuff out but just because it’s in Beacon doesn’t mean a premade egg patty in between a bagel has to be $15,...
Read moreI have made this place apart of my Friday routine before work every week. I could talk about it all day, so I will try to keep this concise!
I have gluten intolerance and the kind where my stomach can tolerate sourdough breads due to the fermentation process. Upon discovering this around the same time Bagel-ish opened, I HAD to try it. I hadn’t had a real bagel in years!
These bagels are better than the above described “real” bagels. The texture is amazing every time and this stays consistent. Their selection of unique flavors keeps the experience fun. My favorite is the Aleppo pepper. Yesterday, 7/4, the owner made a pomegranate and blueberry bagel for the holiday. Once again, never disappoints.
Aside from the amazing bagels, you are always greeted by lively, welcoming staff or the wonderful owner, Beth. I love a business where the owner is there maintaining the place because you know they put their heart into everything they do. Beth sparks a true, authentic conversation with everybody who walks through the door. Through her social media, she has brought such a personal side to the business that makes the customer feel connected. She even has an account featuring the dogs of Bagel-ish! I wish I knew the name of the girl working Friday mornings/noonish, she is always great.
Overall, Bagel-ish has been a perfect addition to Main St in Beacon. Between great selection, incredible quality, and outstanding service, I could not recommend swinging by and trying it out enough. **These pictures are not very high quality because they were sent to my parents or partner showing them how excited I was for my...
Read morei don’t say this easily but these might be the BEST BAGELS EVER! rarely do i ever rate something a near 10/10! i started with a rosemary bagel toasted with cream cheese, absolute heaven in your mouth. you know a place is good when a simple classic combination is outstanding. it was so good that i grabbed my friend and came back a couple hours later for more bagels. ofc they were sold out but we were able to snag their last remaining salt and cinnamon raisin bagels and im so glad we did! the bagels had the perfect airy, light, chewy, and crispy texture and if i lived closer i would be here every day trying every single bagel on the menu! the owner beth is the kindest and loveliest human being who has been perfecting the recipe since 2006, which is reflected in the quality. she even gave me the bacon egg and cheese for free since it was the end of the day. everything was so delicious and the people were very friendly. i would never skip this one if i’m near beacon because it’s worth driving across...
