Our family has been coming to Isamu for over 10 years and it has always been a favorite. Both the food and service were always excellent. However our last two dinners there were just terrible.

The first time, on a Sunday evening, the service was so slow (despite not being very busy) that our food sat on the counter waiting to be served for so long that it was no longer hot by the time we received it. One of our guests entrees never came at all but they didn't want to have to potentially wait again as long as we had the first time.

The second time was a Monday night. We were one of only two tables seated for most of the meal and there were two servers, one for each table. The service was worse than ever. We ordered two soups, one entree, and a fried rice to share. Our soups took a long time to come out and weren't very hot when they did. Hot and sour soup was always my favorite here but this time it had hardly anything in it besides broth. Then we waited again for our entree and fried rice but only the entree came out. We tried to eat it slowly but our fried rice didn't come out until we had completely finished the entree. Our server, who was outside smoking when the fried rice finally appeared on the kitchen counter, brought it over and rather than apologize for the delay, told us that "The chef didn't want to make fried rice". Unfortunately the fried rice wasn't as good as usual either, it was mostly just plain rice.

Isamu was one of my favorite Beacon establishments but after our last two meals there, I don't think we will be returning unless something drastically changes for the better. Large part of the problem, especially tonight, seemed to be young unprofessional staff being left with no...

This place is amazing!! I came here for my birthday. It was so nice. Such a beautiful atmosphere. Food was great, they’re prompt on checking identification when it comes to drink ordering and that’s great to protect an establishment. Food presentation was nice and over all atmosphere was pleasant. I think that the only thing I have to say brought down a star was that the floor next to me looked like it was caving in which concerned my boyfriend and I told him they wouldn’t have service going on if it wasn’t safe. Then it was relatively hot in there. No air conditioning. I’m assuming it may not be working or something but on a hot day, it made the establishment too warm and finally they don’t really do anything to celebrate birthdays which bummed me out. Not even a cake with a candle? Would have been nice. I kinda looked forward to having a cake for my birthday but never got one this year because of that. Overall though, this is a beautiful place and I definitely would love to bring my...

Dear Isamu Management,

I hope this message finds you well. I have been a long-time patron of Isamu and have always appreciated the quality and freshness of your offerings, particularly your sashimi. Recently, I noticed a change in the thickness and overall quality of the sashimi cuts. They appear thinner and less fresh than what I have enjoyed in the past.

I wanted to share this feedback in the spirit of constructive criticism, hoping it helps maintain the high standards that you have offered. Your restaurant has been a favorite of mine, and I look forward to continuing to enjoy the excellent dining experience I have come to expect, but I worry if the quality doesn’t improve, I’ll prefer to dine elsewhere or eat at home.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I hope to see the return of the exceptional quality that makes...

Bland food! I got the duck ramen with egg noodles and a salmon skin roll. The roll was okay, it wasn't really rolled well but the salmon was tasty. Unfortunately the ramen was the worst I've had at a restaurant. It was literally just watered down chicken broth, with no seasonings or salt. Really flavorless, and would not recommend, the duck was the only good part about the ramen! My husband got General Tso's chicken and it was also pretty bland and lacking in flavor. Probably won't come here again.

So impressed by the quality and quantity of food here. Particularly appreciated the udon soup having the broth in a separate container so it wasn’t soggy when we ate it later. The unagi was especially delicious! I meant to ask for an eco-friendly option. Didn’t need so much packaging (would have been fine with like items being combined) and certainly didn’t need silverware or napkins. Will ask next time, can’t wait to go back!
