Oh, em, gee! Talk about the BEST BREWERY IN THE HUDSON VALLEY! Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating (perhaps not in the whoooole Hudson Valley) but just try it for yourselves and see!
I’ve heard so much about this place through many friends and truthfully never really wanted to go to it since there are so many other breweries around. This all changed when one day, I went over a friends house, he offered us a beer, asked me what I wanted. I said: “surprise me.” I’ve had sours before and I’m a true fan. When I said “surprise me, I wasn’t surprised. I was blown away! I tried the “bloom” batch and oh my goodness. That sour, red beer, stole my heart. I went crazy looking to see where they sold some nearby, and of course, no one does. Hudson Valley Brewery sells exclusive beer, not sold in stores or anywhere else. Some places only have it on tap. I want in on this, so I had to go personally to try the full experience.
After grabbing some food on Main Street, we decided to go grab a beer. I was going just for “bloom”. To my disappointment, “bloom” was sold out. My world fell down right that instant. Line was out the door, my beer is gone, now what?
One of the guys working at the counter made sure to offer me a quick alternative that was similar to “bloom”: “gemheart”. Wow. This sour tastes exactly as described: berry açaí bowl!
We also ordered the “hiding place”: Aperol Spritz, Fanta, focaccia. Serious orange citrus overload.
My overall experience at the Hudson Valley Brewery was all thumbs up. It’s not a huge brewery, there are some benches and seats inside (it was very packed on a Saturday afternoon). Since it was nice and sunny on this cool winter day, we went outside and soaked up that sun with our fresh, cold, sours. Also got our puppy fix since some awesome humans brought their pups (they’re pet friendly, WHICH I LOVE!).
If you’re hungry, there’s a food truck where you can grab a quick bite to pair with your beer.
Make sure to take home some cans and stock up on your favorite beer before it...
Read moreWhile the beer was delicious, especially for a non beer drinker, the customer service was extremely disappointing. We came from out of town and the supposed owner of this establishment was rude, condescending, and seemingly has no semblance of customer service. My friend asked if they had Miller Lt., (breweries by us carry both their own and domestic beers) and instead of using this as an educating opportunity or offering a similar beer, she was asked “Do you know where you are?” in a condescending manner. All of the other employees were very kind and open to offering suggestions to me. Additionally, a man had set up a camera on the stairs and was taking a photo of my friend and I, to which to owner almost immediately shut down and did not allow us to take a photo. We were on the stairs for maybe 2 minutes maximum. He told us “Clear the stairs. It’s either up or down.” Reasonable, except we were on our way down and he was blocking the entirety of the stairs with his arms, preventing us from going down. Not a good vibe and not an attitude that makes me want to be here or come back to this establishment. At no point were we ever loud, rude, or over intoxicated to warrant the rudeness. I work in customer service as a bartender and understand a hard day, but this was a bit much. Lead...
Read moreOn a weekend trip to the Hudson Valley, I stumbled on Hudson Valley Brewery after having their absolutely delightful Tangerine Silhouette in a local bar. There was no question about visiting the HVB the next day. After a short struggle to find the location (it really isn't that hard, just on the backside of the main Beacon drag), we walked into a low-lit, warm and welcoming tasting room. Huge shout out to Jesse, who greeted us at the bar and was wonderful! My first pour was the Passionfruit Silhouette, which was nothing short of life-changing. My next was the Soleil 2018 Farmhouse which took it to an entirely new level. As they did last call and after a passionate conversation about HVB's endeavors, Jesse sent us on our way with a token precious can of Total Internal Reflection. The next day we went back when the doors opened for two crowlers of the Passionfruit Silhouette. I've without question found my all-time favorite brewery, followed HVB on every possible social media channel, and will be stalking their releases. They're crushing the sour game and...
