New Roc Social Bar & Lounge — Restaurant in City of New Rochelle

Note to Ali: i never said Middle Eastern i said “eastern bloc” if you don’t know what that means you shouldn’t be responding to EVERY negative review online with a bunch of jabs, belittlement, and on the defensive. The fact that you do this to everyone is a clear indication that you have a very short fuse. Oh forgive me for using the term server and not bartender you know because that’s like calling an MD a a doula or something Seriously dude you’re in the wrong business even bar rescue can’t help you, you won’t last. Especially when replying to someone who said she was kicked out when people in another party were causing trouble and that your staff THREW GLASS bottles and you reply “you are banned”. Lol No Soup For You!! Oh and by the way viewing the replies you made to some “party” it is clear either English is not your first language or you’re incredibly illiterate. This is why i said someone who works there sounds like they came from an eastern bloc country (that would be Eastern Europe if you don’t already know). You are putting out way too much of your dirty laundry for the world to see. The only action you can take in, as you wrote “The New York State Courts!” Is against the one smoking weed, there’s no such thing, in this country, as guilty via association.

I would give one star but wouldn’t be fair to the entire staff. Unfortunately we got stuck with some rude, incredibly rude guy, with a thick eastern bloc accent, who kept a very, very uncomfortably close eye on my friend Jason (who is black) and had to “confirm he was on our tab” (in order words trying to drink and dash I guess). Bar food mmmm fair, edible I guess, pretty salty but that’s industry standard in bars (makes you thirsty). After paying my $170 tab plus 20% tip, Mister Eastern Bloc accent just grabbed the check and walked away no thanks for stopping in no good night no drive safe nothing. Actually he barely spoke at all while waiting on us, but he did say something when bringing the check. He said to Jason (while looking at the check) “wait a minute! How many gin and tonic did you have there’s only 2 on here? As if we made up the check ourselves, yes because he only had two! Probably wouldn’t go back because “Mister Eastern Bloc accent” or wherever he comes from has nerve treating a black person that way considering he’s obviously from a different country, and if I did go back I probably would end in a screaming match with him. Seriously bro your accent and look might be tough but it’s just.....a bar. Nothing more nothing less so he can drop the attitude. People with different servers seemed to be treated better than we were though so if you like then go...

Do Not start a tab here, they are careless and irresponsible with your card information. We went when the place was almost empty, just a few other customers. Bartender started the tab under someone else’s card, and someone else’s tab under my card. And when I was leaving gave me the other persons card, and another person my card. I know this because I kept the receipts that display the Bartab name at the top and card name charged at the bottom. I only realized because I started getting alerts for charges on my card from New Roc Social and Bar, that were not mine, 30 mins after I left. Called several times to speak with mgmt in an attempt to retrieve my card and prevent further fraudulent charges but had no luck and was told by the mgr’s sister that ‘the owner will be back at 230am, he’s at his other location now and he’s not picking up any calls, you could try calling then.’

I would not trust giving my card to this business again, as it appears they are careless and will not take accountability or steps to prevent this from happening again...

This place is around the corner from me. I always bring my friends here. It is one of the better bars around. They have hookah which is not for me. The brings are good. The bouncers and everyone there are good to go.

That said, a few things. There are days where the crowd feels different and that can be touch and go. I walk by from time to time to see the vibe. That can be just appearances or it could be a thing.

The second this was that you need to hookah to get a table. We came in with 5 people clearly more than just hang out at the bar. I had a friend come in from DC, CA, Brooklyn, they started to give us a hard time about taking a table if we weren't going to hookah. They told us if someone else came we would have to give us the table. Even after we ordered food. It never happened but it was weird having that hanging over us. That said I think this is the best local bar to hang out. I've brought dates here everything. I like it and...
