As a group of 11 Nepalis visiting Niagara Falls, we were excited to eat at Taste of Nepal, hoping for a comforting meal that reminded us of home. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing, not just because of the food but due to the unprofessional behavior of the staff. We ordered a variety of dishes, and while some were decent enough to eat because we were starving, the thukpa was a complete letdown—it tasted nothing like thukpa and lacked flavor. When we asked for Nepali tea, one staff member told us it wasn’t available, yet we clearly saw another server serving tea to a different table. Only after asking a different staff member were we able to order it. When we were asked how the food was, we gave honest feedback and mentioned that the thukpa was not good at all. What shocked us was what happened next: before we even left the restaurant, we overheard staff in the back room mocking us for the feedback. One staff member said something along the lines of “if they can cook, then they should just make it at home,” and laughed. Another commented that we were “faking our accents”—as if that was funny or necessary to say at all. This kind of immature and disrespectful behavior toward paying customers is unacceptable. We weren’t rude; we just gave honest feedback when asked. Talking about customers behind their backs while they’re still in the building is extremely unprofessional. I even told the server directly that if they can’t take feedback, maybe they shouldn’t be running a restaurant. We expected warmth, hospitality, and quality Nepali food. Instead, we left feeling insulted. As someone proud of my Nepali heritage, this experience was genuinely upsetting. I hope the management takes this as constructive criticism and trains the staff on basic professionalism...
Read moreI don’t want to let the fact that they quoted 10 minutes for pick up and it took every bit of 30 minutes be the main thing that clouds my review. Everything was fresh, hot and they seem to use good quality ingredients. Besides the wait, my biggest complaint is it was really under seasoned. I ate all of it, but it’s almost as if the sauce was watered down because it really had no punch or much flavor other than a very light tomato background note. I asked the person who checked me out if I could maybe get a free soda for my trouble and she said oh I have to ask the owner. I just work here. So I walked out after that. Oh and I forgot to mention after waiting 30 minutes and being in a bad mood, she handed me the food assuming I have already paid. I hadn’t and I mentioned that to her and she was super appreciative, that I didn’t just walk out, but somehow couldn’t work out the free soda without having to ask the owner and make me wait longer. I might have come up with another Star had she figured that out, but I would never go back to this place. Maybe it’s better if you eat in, I don’t know, but the food was just blah. I don’t need to spend $20 for blah
Just want to add an update since the owner replied. I really do not understand anything you said. YES, the food was not good so I left an appropriate review. YOU MADE ME WAIT 30 minutes for ONE dish when the restaurant was EMPTY on a weeknight. You are clueless and maybe you will learn a little something about customer service. How much does a soda cost your business? A lot less than a negative review from an unhappy customer. it's OK, I...
Read moreWas looking for Indian food and was about to go to the buffet restaurant a few buildings away. BUT upon looking at the food, i lost my interest. Then my husband suggested we come here since it was empty and the guy who greeted him was very nice. Anyways, we sat down with our son and the man who served us was super nice and accommodating. Now to address the negative comments I’ve read here, it says long wait for food. I honestly did not mind because the food was made FRESH. Yes super fresh and they also made necessary changes to each dish since my husband, my son and I hace different tastes. And remember that when food is made on demand(fresh) it takes time. Ask yourself how long it takes you to cook at home? Food that is pre-prepared is often sitting for hours and sometimes days. So I’m glad I came here where I waited and received fresh food that is safe for my toddler to eat as well. And yes it’s pricey but absolutely worth every penny. Amazing taste. We ordered 2 orders of momos 1 bindi with rice 1 samosa chaat 1 dal tadka 2 lassis
And omg the taste 🤤 I feel like going there again ASAP. Mouthwatering!
And for reference I’m Pakistani, my husband is Indian and we have eaten at many restaurants. This has to be our top...
