This review is for the poor service. Long story short take your money elsewhere. My husband picked up 2 Mediterranean salads, one with falafel one with chicken. The one with falafel was missing feta and olives. I called hoping they would rectify the situation. The young girl on the phone put me on hold to 'check with the kitchen' and came back to say the salads were both the same. I asked her twice if I needed to come show her in person, the second time I said I would want my money back if I had to come from my hotel at 8pm in the pouring rain her response was 'ok'. I show up with the sad looking salad and ask for my money back. Initially the owner didn't care about my complaint stating they were 'very busy'. I then said I would be posting a review. That's when things changed and the owner who (I assume) was the person who was consulted in the first place when I called told me it was mean to post a review. I told her it was the truth, that I wasn't trying to be mean. Unfortunately it was too little too late when she tried to make good by offering me baklava or something else. I got my money back and ran to...
Read moreI had never walked this street before. So close to familiar Clinton Square and I had yet to venture to this stretch. Neighbour to Glazed and Confused Doughnuts, Byblos has made itself a magnet for those who love Mediterranean food done well. I know of a second Mediterranean restaurant in town and I have given it two tries. Byblos hit the mark on the first try. I just had dolmas, but I enjoyed my dolmas four hours ago and I am still aglow from my snack. My snack may well outshine whatever dinner I find tonight. The woman who was cooking must be the owner too. She smiles with the energy of those who have discovered bliss in the kitchen. I was knocked flat by her gesture when she shared baclava with all her diners, myself included. There is truth in her filo dough. Her baclava is the best end for an ounce of local honey, her baclava revealing the secret of honey.
Guy Fieri has paid tribute by dining at this tiny and intimate space. I was knocked flat when I realized that everything from Thai to Biker BBQ exists in this district. I must go back. Take...
Read moreA cafe that packs a punch, small but mighty. This Mediterranean cafe has fresh and flavorful Mediterranean cuisine.
The gyro bowl is certainly the way to go for your first time, second time or every time. The value and quality ranks top in the 315 area. This time I went with the Meat Sampler for two which carried a price tag of $29.99. I was excited to fill my belly with all the flavors of the Mediterranean. The side salad was fresh, hummus was delicious and the falafel was crisp. Well cooked and a plethora of food, although this couldn’t feed two I was left wanting more. Great flavors but not enough value for me to recommend the meat sampler for two to someone with a big appetite.
The gyro bowl is the tried and true winner where quality meets the quantity sweet spot. If you’re really starving for for two, leave the meat sampler for someone whose looking to taste several things but not...
