Apizza is a delightful wood-fired pizzeria located in downtown Syracuse, right across from Dinosaur Barbecue. This charming eatery offers a warm and inviting atmosphere that perfectly captures a European feel, making it a fantastic spot for a casual yet enjoyable dining experience. Despite being a small space, the ambiance is vibrant and bustling, providing an energetic backdrop for a Saturday night out. We were pleasantly surprised by the short wait to be seated, and the service was prompt and friendly throughout our visit. The drink menu features nice options, including cocktails and a succinct wine list that doesn't pretend to be something it’s not—just good selections to complement the meal. We started with some appetizers that were delicious and set the tone for what was to come. Now, let’s talk about the pizza! The thin crust was expertly crafted with excellent development and slight charring, resulting in a perfect texture. The toppings were refreshing and thoughtfully chosen, avoiding the pitfalls of being overly cheesy or oily. It’s clear that the chefs at Apizza know how to create pizzas done right. As someone who has made pizza at home for years, I can confidently say that Apizza is one of only two places in Syracuse where I would consider having pizza—the other being "All Who Wander" in Manlius. Overall, I highly recommend Apizza for anyone looking for exceptional wood-fired pizza in a cozy setting. We look forward to returning soon to enjoy more of their...
Read moreHands down the best pizza in all of Syracuse. Given that I am from Chicago, I think I am a tough judge of pizza and this place is one of the best. They have a really great cocktail menu. All their drinks are hand crafted and their staples are always amazing. I am a huge fan of their Negroni. If your more into wine you'll love the fact that you can order multiple sizes. Wines are always great. They usually have a special on a bottle on Wednesdays. They have a nice selection of local beers. I simply love the food here. It is consistently fabulous. Absolutely everything on this menu is amazing. They put together simple and very fresh ingredients sourced from local growers and farmers. I really love looking at the map of what farms and what locations their ingredients are all from. You definitely need to start with the antipasti bowl or the Cavoletti as an appetizer. Trust me, these are must order dishes. My favorite pizza is the Calabrian but often their seasonal specials will bump it. The Cannerone is another one of my favorite staples. I recommend getting one pizza and this pasta dish and then sharing (hopefully your with someone that doesn't mind). You must also order the chocolate budino for dessert. Just trust me on this one. It is worth it. The staff is always friendly and very helpful. You will see the owner, Paulie, walk around often, saying hello and checking in on everyone. He is very welcoming and hospitable. This place is a MUST stop when you're...
Read moreTLDR: Food DID NOT look like the pictures, was entirely too overpriced for how bad it was, and was most definitely NOT worth the wait.
First the drinks, the Coca-cola was so obviously watered down, and it's not like the machine broke, no even when asking about it and getting new drinks they were bland and watery. We also got root beers, and they were glorified birch beer, entirely too sweet and not very fizzy at all.
As for the food, the pizza was tissue-paper thin with almost no cheese, sauce, or toppings and the crust was a big pocket of air, no flavor or substance to it. The meatball appitizer was 5 tiny meatballs the size of your thumb for $2 a piece wnd they were burnt... We ordered two chicken parms and one came out absolutely drenched in sauce while the other was almost dry. The pizzas with toppings were a joke, the tiniest little bits of sausage or meatball which certainly werent enough to be worth the extra money for them.
Finally was the wait and service. The wait was an hour and a half, however we were called more than 30 minutes earlier than the time they gave us, even with our planning to be back early someone had claimed our seat so we had to wait 5 mins after we got back there anyway. Then the service was intermittent, i mean the place only has like 12, maybe 15 tables, how does it take 10 mins just to get a drink or order, it was 3x smaller than any normal restaurant.
Overall, absolutely wasn't worth the wait or money we...
