Hudson Grille — Restaurant in City of White Plains

IF I COULD GIVE IT 0 stars for security guard experience I went through I would.

On Saturday March 16,2019 for Saint Patrick’s Day, my friends and I went out to white plains bars. We ended our night in Hudson grille where my boyfriend (he is BLACK and 6’3 ft) was attacked by 4 WHITE of the security guards that worked in Hudson who also put there hands on me. My boyfriend and I were leaving the bar around 3:30am ish. We were looking for my friends who were still in the inside bar and my boyfriend and I were in the outside tent part of the location. We were the only people still in the tent. I saw my friend who was sitting at the bar so I asked the security who was blocking the entrance and politely asked him if me and my boyfriend could leave out through front since our friends were literally 5 feet away and he looked at me with a blank stare and ignored me. I then continued to ask him thinking he might have no heard me “can we please go over there my friends are there “ because I didn’t want to have to walk around the whole block . He said no the bar is closed and I was confused on why he was saying that because my intention was not to buy a drink but to leave through the main entrance of the Hudson bar. And I asked again because I didn’t think what I asked him was so much to ask for when people were still in the main bar floor. I asked and always remained respectful then the security guard said no and pushed me. I am 5,4ft and I never once came off in a way where he would feel it was ok to put his hands on me. OBVIOUSLY my boyfriend came in between the security and I and asked him why he pushed me and all of a sudden 4 security guards start to attack him. Unfortunately I did not have my phone on me, my boyfriend had it in his pocket because I did not bring a purse that night. Scary to think that my boyfriend did not want to go out that night but I begged him to come out and he choose to come out for me, his girlfriend. The moment when they tackled him to the floor and 4 of them started to beat him up, I felt hopeless. I honestly felt they were going to hit me because they attacked him for no reason when all he did was stand up for me being man handled and pushed by the security guard. I was in shock from what I was witnessing and I could do nothing but cry and beg them to stop hurting him. One of the security guards was kneeing him in the face. I remember begging one of the security guards to tell them to stop because he didn’t do anything nor did he fight back. My boyfriend literally did not touch them back. My boyfriend is black and that is definitely why they felt he had to get treated that way. Little did they know my boyfriend wouldn’t fight back because of his character. All he wanted to do was protect me. Everything happened so fast. After they beat him up they threw us out the back door. I was in shock I couldn’t believe what just happened. That night boyfriend put on his $1300 earrings and a chain his mom gave him with her name on it which disappeared. In the moment of them attacking my innocent boyfriend they took it off him. Once we were outside they all disappeared. I saw a cleaning guy vacuuming the floor and begged him to let me in so I could at least look for his jewelry and he let me in but I wasn’t able to find it. I need justice for my boyfriend. They left marks on his face and neck and scarred us emotionally. It’s not fair and I know it’s because he is a black man and they automatically saw him as a threat. I know if it was with a different race this would have never happened. Unfortunately we weren’t able to make a police report that night and the next day we went to the Bronxville emergency room because his body was sore and he was in a lot of pain from getting jumped. I came here based on a high google review average! I came here with my big sister and my daughter for a little family late lunch! They place looks very nice old school style pub with a beautiful backyard seating area. Service was excellent, our waitress was friendly and attentive! Food? And drinks? start off with the positives! Watermelon martini, EXCELLENT! I forgot what my sister had but she liked it! So as far as alcohol they have an excellent bartender or bartender’s! Food? We started off with calamari which was tasty and pretty tender(not as tender as the calamari at Mastros but good enough) and we also had truffle garlic fries , tasty I will say! My sister had the lobster roll and she said “it was delicious”! Now we get the the meat and potatoes of this review if you will! My daughter and I had ribeye steak, she went medium with truffle oil mashed and green beans. I always go medium rare on mine! My sides were fingerling potatoes and green beans. My daughter and I love steak! And to say we were beyond disappointed! I’ve had better steak at Tad’s steakhouse on 34st across from Macy’s in the 80’s n 90’s and even the 2000’s for a joke and that place is a dump and EXTREMELY CHEAP! If you’re reading this review then be forewarned don’t do it! This was the absolutely worst decision we ever made tasteless, tough, not one drop of salt? My daughter had the same reaction! How do you screw up a steak??? I don’t care where it is but to offer steak on your menu and you can’t make a steak? I started teach my daughter how to cook and she can do a way better job at the house using the stove and a cast iron skillet! This “steak” if you could call it that didn’t taste anything like beef whatsoever! It tasted as if it were boiled. No fire was used in preparation of these steaks! What no salamander in an “eatery, pub” I couldn’t finish it half even though i tried because I knew I wasn’t going to get any deductions in my bill! It ended up being half eaten garbage !!! Yeah I know never oder a steak in a place like this!!! But honestly how do you screw up that majorly??? I WILL NEVER BE BACK! I will say again the waitress was extremely friendly and gracious! Unfortunately, the second person to get food poisoning at this establishment within the last 3 months had to be me (see reviewer Trevor S.) I went there for lunch on May 10th and had the steak salad and soup (a dish I have had there many other times without issue). I always eat the same dish and drink the same wine, and not long after having this meal this time, I was rushed to the emergency room with severe vomiting and muscle weakness. I even passed out in the wheelchair and had to have an EKG done. I was there for over 4 hours in a terrible state, but what is more upsetting is the way the Hudson Grille management handled my situation upon being told what had just happened after eating at their place. Most decent and compassionate owners of any restaurant would have gone out of their way to make things right. Not this one. I was given every lame reason for what could have caused my illness from “a bug going around” to “he called all the customers who ate at the restaurant around the same time I did” to see if anyone else had gotten sick, to even insinuating that I got sick from drinking too much….at 1 in the afternoon????? In other words, he did not even consider that it could have happened at his establishment. That one of his cooks could have ill or been careless with the handling of my food. A real class act! Now, I am stuck with a hospital bill of over $3,000! I even went as far as to provide my medical records which include a report that clearly states that the probable cause of my sickness was from food poisoning. I am disgusted with the management, who also own Lilly’s next door, and I will never return to their establishments. Stay clear...
