First time visiting the east coast and decided to go to Haiku as a recommendation from the concierge at our hotel. When we arrived, the manager (I'm assuming, he was) seated us. A young woman came over and asked us for our beverage order. At this time, it would have been helpful for her to inform us that they do not provide free refills. Each refill costs. Coming from the Midwest, it's customary that restaurants offer free refills. So you can imagine how shocked we were to see a long list of drinks on the receipt. That isn't all though. She got my husband's sushi order wrong. He asked for no avocado and was still brought rolls covered in avocado. No apology. No can we remake this over for you. Nothing. Just a shrugged shoulder. When it came time to pay, we saw the bill and was upset about the drinks that she never informed us about. So my husband had to split the bill because his company was paying for his meals and he was paying for my meals. He told her this in the beginning. She still brought over one receipt. He told her how to split it and she still split it wrong. Then she walks back with the cards asking what card pays for what receipt? When he placed the cards in their own folder. So how could she mess that up? At this point my husband is livid and decided that the service we received, did not warrant a tip. After he signed off on the receipts, we sat there because I was waiting for someone to get out of the (one person at a time)restroom. She walks over and grabs the folders. A few minutes later she comes back and slams the folders onto the table and demands a tip. Just like it is written on the receipt, a tip is optional. We are not obligated to tip you a dime when we feel that your service as our waitress was horrible. Then to have the audacity to come back to the table to demand it, took everything in us to not completely go off. She stated she was going to get the manager. We waited to see what they were going to say about this matter. No one ever walked up, so we left. This review is only getting 2 stars because I liked my Pad Thai and my sushi roll. However, our service was horrible and left a bad impression of White Plains, NY.

I would like to let it be known that I have frequented this place for takeout years ago but today I decided to dine in for my birthday when the restaurant was open for business at 11:30 a.m. The ambiance of the restaurant is quite serene with music playing in the background at a mellowed tone. It wasn't empty but it wasn't too busy. Our initial server, Jessie, was very much interactive and outgoing. She was very pleasant and welcoming to the 6-month-old that accompanied us on this day. They gave us time to settle so we did not feel rushed. We ordered two classic margaritas, which came about 5 minutes later, because we were told that this choice would be the best option on the menu, but it was your typical sour mix nothing authentic. So I decided to switch it out and with no problem from the server I ordered a coco mai. So happy I changed my order because this drink is absolutely delicious. I would definitely order that drink again. My appetizer was the pan fried pork dumpling. This was delicious also. I ordered sushi and a seaweed salad and the salmon to avocado ratio in the sushi was off but it was still edible. Other than that great place to dine in at. Great customer service. If you are a coconut lover like me, order the coco mai you won't be disappointed.

Where do I begin? Haiku has always been one of my favorite Asian fusion restaurants in White Plains, but they exceeded all of my expectations when I recently held a private event in their lower level party room. From the moment I began planning and coordinating with James, the restaurant manager, it was great experience. James followed up and offered the best customer service I've ever experienced at a restaurant where I hosted an event for a large party. The space accommodated about 22 ppl, we brought some decor, and there was a restaurant room for our guests across from the party room. On the day of the event, James, our head waitress Lisa and the serving staff was top notch and accommodating to each guest. Guests who've never visited the restaurant before were impressed by the food, but more so by the service. In this environment where restaurants are having to take extra precautions and with limited, it is very hard to provide the service all patrons are expecting. However, Haiku really demonstrated they can service their patrons in the best way possible and be absolutely efficient. Thanks again to James, Lisa and the Haiku staff.

Back in the day I used to go to Haiku and really liked the place. The drinks and food were pretty good if not great and the decor was on point. I don't recall the level of service but must have been pretty good because I was a repeat customer.

Fast forward a few years, I haven't been there in a while and dropped in for dinner with my wife. The decor is still great and although the mai tai was average to slightly below, the other cocktail (tyme machine) was great. That cocktail was probably the best part of the night. To eat we had coconut shrimp, sushi (rolls) and tso chicken, all were average but nothing was impressive.

If this review were based on the food quality, drinks, and decor I'd rate Haiku 3.5 stars. But it's a restaurant so service is pretty important.

First off when you are at a sit down restaurant and somewhat upscale, you shouldn't be offering disposable chop sticks. That's like going to an Italian restaurant and getting a plastic fork with your pasta. The sticks were not just disposable but cheap; takeout sushi spots use better chopsticks.

The waitress/bus staff were horrible at clearing our finished plates which was very frustrating given the small size of the table. At each course we waited a while for her to come clear the food then waited for her to drop the check (actually had to flag her down when she delivered something to another table). Then we waited again for her to take my credit card, I was fed up and walked over to give it to her. Now I get it, it's a Friday night and it's busy, plus I have sympathy because I worked in restaurants for years. That said, the terminal/host stand was a few feet from our table so we could easily see our waitress (not busy) standing at the terminal chatting with a coworker. She didn't appear sick overworked or run down and it wasn't the end of the night, essentially she had no excuse. Other staff passes by our table and didn't pitch in so it wasn't just her. Clearly I won't be going back because.....I'll only tolerate sub par service if the food is excellent and...

This place should be closed with the type of service they have. The staff was unbelievably rude from the minute we walked in there. The lady was unwilling to help us and when she did she didn’t even give us our complementary water. When ordering she kept making rude comments towards us and seemed impatient. Once we got our food we noticed the lady was staring at us while pointing and laughing, talking to another worker. The audacity of her to do that. Once it came time to get the check we were already fed up. We put our money in the check and she didn’t bring us our change back. Keep in mind we never told her to keep the change or the fact that it was a tip. When we asked another worker about it he went up to her and she got all annoyed and started yelling. She brought us our change back with an attitude and rudely was telling us how most customers give 18% or 20% tip mind you we could tip however much we want. She then said if we aren’t gonna do that not to eat here again and to take the food out. Mind you we never even said to her we weren’t leaving a tip, she just assumed it. It was extremely rude for her to do that especially since she didn’t know how much we were actually gonna tip and just took our change without us telling her to, then she started telling us how we can’t eat there if we tip that much. Very unprofessional from the beginning, the way she was acting didn’t deserve a tip at all even before the whole incident with the tip. Food was good but will not...
