I come here 1-2 times per week. Their pho broth is absolutely fantastic and the best pho broth I've ever had anywhere. I always order the P5, pho with rare beef and brisket. Normally there are 4-5 pieces of thin brisket and 4-5 pieces of rare beef. Yesterday, there were 3 small pieces of rare beef, 1 normal size piece of brisket, and 2 half pieces of brisket. I asked the server about it and he agreed that was less than normal and checked with the kitchen. They claimed they weigh the meat and that's the same amount they always give (not true) and that there wasn't anything they could do about it unless I wanted to pay for another order of meat. When I order my pho to-go, I ask for the meat on the side so it isn't leather by the time it gets home. There's always 4-5 pieces of each meat. Dining in, they hide the meat at the bottom of the bowl so you can't see how much (or how little) you're getting. They give a decent amount of basil, lime, jalapeno, and bean sprouts (I always ask for half a handful more of sprouts because they're about 2 bites short of a nice serving). The sliced onion, green onion, and cilantro comes in the bowl and the cilantro is pretty much non-existent. My husband ordered the grilled pork banh mi last time we all went and although the bread was amazing and the flavors were great, there were only 3 pieces of pork, the thickness of a piece of cardstock paper, and not even enough to overlap in the sandwich. His first sandwich took forever to come and arrived when the rest of us were halfway done with our meals. The meat was so sparse that he had to order a second sandwich. The egg rolls are just ok flavor wise but TINY and definitely not worth $4 for 2 (they're the size of lumpia). The Vietnamese coffee is so strong you could stand a horseshoe up in it and it's delicious. The bubble tea is tempting, but they only have powdered fruity flavors, no Thai tea or milk tea. I keep hoping to see sticky rice with coconut and peanuts show up on the menu, but sadly they don't have it. There is no printed children's menu. They do have kid's chicken and rice and pho but I have no idea how much they cost. They're both yummy but the kid's pho portion is at least twice the size it should be (almost a full adult size). Seating is decent although if there were 2 large groups there would be problems as my family takes up the one and only large table (2 adults, 3 small kids, 2 babies). Waitstaff are always very friendly and attentive. For the cost, I'm starting to feel a ripped off with how stingy they're being, especially the meat. Next time I want pho, we'll be going to Pho King. TL/DR: Good broth, STINGY with meat, you're paying for "atmosphere" not...
Read moreConsidering around here this is the “best” pho. That being said... it has its pros and cons.
Pros : Good Flavorful Bone Broth. Great Strong Vietnamese Coffee (condensed milk). Delicious Pork Patties Spring rolls and egg rolls. Clean establishment. New spot Started off strong... but -
Cons : Small servings of meat portions (skimped) for Pho soup. Everytime portion has gotten smaller and smaller - and for $10.95+ and up for a bowl... that’s not ok. Also broth itself isn’t as full in bowl. Last time, my bowl came out literally half way filled. Plus, Not all typical condiments are out/ available on table. Have to ask for. Kids menu pho is minuscule if you order to go. Small size styrofoam cup half filled with broth and 2 shriveled pieces of meat. Can’t order as adult who wants a small quick bite while on lunch. Stinks- could get a small soup and an app. Only use Small beverage napkins, no standard dinner ones. So you go through a dozen and have to ask for more.... and then more. Last two times the Vietnamese Coffee wasn’t delivered with/ or in coffee filter (phin)... I was brought just a regular cup of coffee. So Not The Same! Shrimp anything - overcooked, rubbery tiny shriveled chewy things. Yuck. The Spring rolls peanut dip has changed completely. Used to be peanut sauce, topped with crushed peanuts and carrots. Now- a watered down version with no peanuts or carrots. Very disappointing. Ban Mi Sands are not authentic bread and are pretty skimpy filled. Just feels like I’m eating mostly bread (other places are stuffed full and a larger sandwich). Vermicelli bowls are smaller and smaller. Again, less meat and not enough veggies or peanuts. Lack luster bowl of cold noodles and small everything else. Bubble tea is always - always out of flavors- and it’s like it’s missing something (flavor) - Tastes Like just all ice.
For the money- It just feels like a rip off. Understand it’s located in a plaza and you have rent overhead..so prices are to make sure to have a profit- but as a customer these above reasons have lead me to always go elsewhere lately for my go to Pho fix. A customer wants to leave full and happy. Prices need to reflect in food servings and no cutting...
Read moreOn my 5th visit, Hubby’s 3rd, to this establishment, after recommending it to family and they reporting back their bad experience, (we thought they just didn’t like this type of food) My husband and I were told there was nothing they could do about my complaint, because I ate almost all my food, which was actually less than half....Vietnamese is probably the most common food my husband and I eat when dining out and this was worse than tasteless. The unpeeled, grilled shrimp, came on a skewer and I was told by our waiter that it is ok to eat the whole shrimp, peel, legs and all. I decided that wasn’t for me and while peeling it, I realized it was also not deveined, which is a “no go” for me. So by the time I peeled and deveined 2 my shrimp they were about the size of a macaroni noodle. When I told the waiter he argued with me, for about a minute that it was indeed deveined...I told him I realized he isn’t the cook and it isn’t his fault that he wouldn’t know, but I cleaned the poop out of the shrimp myself! The rice paper on the fresh spring rolls was so tough I had to tear them open with my chopsticks. I ate the shrimp out of one until I realized the shrimp was dry and not very fresh at all. My husband ordered a dish that he has ordered too many times to count and said it had no flavor and kept stirring plumsauce in it and was literally was gagging thinking about the food for the next hour. Thinking back, every time we went, the food got just a little bit worse and now they have lost quite a few...
