Walk Ons cannot charge $15. 99 for crawfish etouffee that would not fill up a quarter of a bourbon drink glass at the bar! It was that little of an amount of food.. then it looked like the chef took no more than two or three crawfish and chopped it up in the tiny little pieces. The pieces were smaller than BBs. How could I enjoy this food. The roux was okay. However, if you know you're not getting your money's worth it's really difficult to enjoy a meal. If you want really good Cajun food in Louisville just go to J Gumbo's because you will get a larger portion that's worth it and the food is good. Also there's a restaurant in Indianapolis run by a gentleman from New Orleans called Yatz. A lot if you want great food where the portions are huge and it is very inexpensive you need to visit that place. As a matter of fact maybe the chef and owners need to visit Yatz to understand value of portion size. Even my server warned me of the portion size. However, I tried it anyway because I love crawfish etouffee. It just wasn't worth it. My server was very good though. I just wanted to try the crawfish etouffee but when you just have maybe eight teaspoons of a meal and you don't even know what the meat is in the meal because it's job so fine you can't tell it's not what's coming back at all. Every great crawfish has whole crawfish in it !! The beignets were good though even though they were chopped up into frosted mini wheat sizes. This was the second time coming back also because the server before said you got to come back and try the cage and it's great! It's not especially for value standpoint. The first visit I had the double burger and fries and it was okay. You could go to Bubba's 33, Jagger's and get a much better burger. That doesn't even include all the local places in Louisville that has better food from a burger standpoint especially.. In closing you're just not getting your money's...
Read moreRevised on 4/6 Figured we would give another go around since we had a great experiance the first time. Girls at the front took our name and phone and said be about 20 min wait. Waited.... girls were barely calling out names and weren't calling people so if people didn't respond immediately they skipped on. Plenty of open tables and people who were seated were waiting on food. After seeing a party of two come in after us and waited 10 mintutes and got called. We decided to go to Drakes down the road. Sorry for the bad update. Let me start this review by saying if I was able to give this place more than 5 stars I would! We were immediately sat down at a table in the bar section. Our server Justen G came straight over to introduce himself and to get our drink orders. He was very patient since this was our first time here which won't be our last. We orders the fried pickles which came out very quickly! There was plenty for the two of us and delicious. She orderd a side salad and I ordered the gumbo. The salad was fresh and crisp and my gumbo was the best ive had. My fiance ordered the classic burger and she is very picky when it comes to her burgers and she said and I can also say it was since she had me try it. It was very favorable and big in size. I ordered the Louisiana seafood platter and I couldn't believe the portion sizes. The catfish was on point and didn't have that normal catfish smell. The jumbo shrimp were really jumbo and the crawfish étouffee was to die for. It had so much crawfish in it. Justen made sure our drinks were never empty. Plenty of tvs and sitting. Will definitely be...
Read moreVisited Sunday, 12/17/23 at 11am. Short line at the door before opening, but we were all seated immediately after the doors opened. Typical chain/sports car/casual atmosphere. Wait staff equipped with digital pads for fast orders to kitchen. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I tried the mozzarella logs, hush puppies, boom boom shrimp, and devils on horseback appetizers. All were satisfactory. The devils on horseback were the best of the four. They were perfectly breaded in a light crust, which swayed my decision to go with the fried option on my entrée rather than my usual preference of blackened. Mozzarella logs were standard fare. Hush puppies were moist and mildly sweet. Many restaurants get these wrong, and I was pleasantly surprised. The boom boom shrimp was small and very mild, but delicious. My entrée was the catfish atchafalya (fried filets). Again, totally satisfactory. For dessert, I tried the beignets and the donut bread pudding. The bread pudding was outstanding. The beignets are decent, but nothing extraordinary. I would not hesitate to visit again, or to recommend this place. As for the other reviews regarding spotty service, this may have been because this is a new location getting their bearings, or the large volume of customers typically seen here. The reviews stating food was overly salty; some people may not be familiar with Cajun flavors/cuisine. It is high in sodium, but not really more than any other...
