I love the metroparks and everything they do. I had much higher hopes for the igloo experience and it sadly let us down. For starters, the igloo we had reserved was NOT pre-heated at all. There were no instructions and we figured out how to turn our heater up to high setting on our own (sadly it didn’t raise the temp much). We were pretty cold past tolerable levels the entire time inside the igloo. Our server was nice, seemed just a little confused in general but very sweet. The menu is VERY limited, 1 single page. Most options are basic sandwiches with cheap bread and a few chips as the only other side. The prices, especially for the very small portion sizes delivered, were much much higher than anticipated. The food quality & taste was at cafeteria level at best. $15 for 3 perogies?! It was good, not amazing or super special however and that was still better than the short rib melt I got or even the Mediterranean bowl my date ordered. Lastly, It’d be great if the metroparks could update their information online. Online, it says that reservations cost $25 and that 20% gratuity is INCLUDED. not additional. When we got the bill, it turned out that that was NOT the case. Its ADDITIONAL. That would have been fine if they had just been upfront about it & said PLUS gratuity. So either the website is wrong, or I was charged an extra $14 from my understanding of what I read posted on their site (pictured below). Either way, unfortunately what was thought to be a warm magical dinner evening was just us trying to make the best of it and learn we probably won’t ever be back after such a disappointing and confusing experience. I still support the parks, but merwins warf was quite the fish flop in our experience.

My wife and I were very excited to take the Cleveland metroparks Cuyahoga River boat tour this year to celebrate our anniversary. As part of that celebration, we also wanted to finally try out Merwin's Wharf as well. The outside seating has a wait so we opted for inside, which was fine given it was a bit cooler outside as it was later into the evening. Service was excellent and our waitress was on top of drink refills and grabbed our order as soon as we were ready. I was excited to try out the watermelon salad with chicken. The sweet/heat salad dressing sounded interesting paired with the watermelon and candied pecans. We got the 1.5lb pretzel as an appetizer for us both and wow are they not kidding on the weight of this thing. Easily shareable with an entire table. The dressing was very interesting and paired well but it would not be my first choice if I ordered it again. I have a fairly low heat tolerance and this was just in the cusp of being a tad bit too spicy for me. My wife absolutely loved her eggplant sandwich and chips and was very pleased with how it was cooked and served. For dessert, we ordered what was basically a peach cobbler cheesecake and it was amazing. Was a bit hesitant when my wife first ordered it but it turned out quite tasty Overall we really enjoyed the food and experience and would absolutely visit again in the future and bring along some friends to help eat that pretzel!

We booked an igloo on 1/2/21 in the afternoon. It was a neat experience in the igloo (I imagine it would be even more so in the night on an even colder day). The waitress was really friendly. It was my mistake that as a table of two I didn't realize that the $50 rental fee wasn't calculated in the $150 minimum. I figured we'd both get 2 drinks, a few apps, a meal and maybe need to order a meal to take home. Nope, we had to spend $150 more. Okay, we don't normally splurge or even take a date, so unexpected expense but we didn't try to fret it- but the food was terrible! The chicken and waffles were chewy and flavorless. The cheese plate was about $10 worth of cheese for $50! The margarita was sweet and sour in all of the wrong ways. My husband liked his draft beer- at least there's that! Oh we did like the giant pretzel, and it was a reasonable price. I think maybe sticking with just serving pretzels and draft beer in a pretty igloo would leave nothing to complain about. Avoid order any kind of real food though unless they make some serious changes. And we did have a nice time, but it was the most expensive, terrible food I've ever had.

Been here once before and had a nice time, but would absolutely never come back under any circumstances. Wanted to celebrate a graduation here and called to see if they take reservations and/or get an idea of what their wait times usually run on a Saturday early afternoon for the date. The hostess was super kind and offered to transfer me over to the manager to see if anything could be done since it was a special occasion. The manager, who introduced himself as Dave, was EXTREMELY rude, disrespectful, and short with me when I was nothing but polite to him and the hostess I had spoken to prior. I was completely taken aback at how rude and impolite this manager was to me when all I wanted to do was get an idea of wait times to and how to best prepare them for a large party of 10 I was hoping to bring in on what I can understand to be a very busy Saturday. I had initially inquired about a reservation, which I learned they do not do, and I completely understood as policy is policy (I work in the restaurant industry myself so I understand). He was so rude, unhelpful, did not provide any information and went so far as to hang up on me. Would never EVER give this place any of my business again and strongly recommend against it for anyone else considering coming here. If management is that rude completely unprovoked to customers offering to bring in a significantly large party for a celebration (reservation or not), that is not an establishment I want to support. Would give zero...

I've heard great things about this restaurant before and decided to try it out for myself. Atmosphere and overall vibe of the place was cool, right next to the water with many lights around. Being seated, I had high expectations, but that quickly changed throughout the course of the evening. The server was mediocre at best, couldn't get water or even silverware, or menus to start. (had to find silverware ourselves after asking several times) I was there with a group of about 8 people and 90% of the meals were messed up; some were made incorrectly, some came 15 after everyone else, half of them were missing the sides- it was always something.

Very frustrating, pretty much everything that could be messed up was. We were expecting at least some sort of discount on the bill but manager Terry was just not willing to cooperate. To be frank, Terry was probably the worst manager I've ever encountered. Somebody needs to fire this dude-Terry you're the worst. The whole night was a disaster and he was not willing to give us any discount or reduction on the bill. My meal was incorrect twice and I still had to pay full price.

To conclude, the two stars are for the atmosphere and because the food tasted good (if it was made correctly, not cold, and served on time) However the service was very disappointing. The waitress definitely needed some more practice , and honestly manager Terry is the worst guy I've ever dealt with and did not do one single thing to help. Someone...
