Fireman's Cafe — Restaurant in Clinton

Highly disappointed is an understatement! I saw a big Schlims review and I said let me see something… 👀 I wanted to love this place. I should’ve listened to my son when we walked in he said it stunk. I got everything that Big SCHLIM recommended. Let’s start with the wings. I got lemon pepper wings, and although they did listen and give me all drums, which I do appreciate they were super salty. I got the stamp platter the fish tastes like air, no flavor and chewy. The shrimp were super small no flavor, tastes like air and also chewy. The sides were uneditable they say the greens had smoke turkey meat no more like liquid smoke and that’s the only flavor and then the mac & cheese no flavor it taste chunky and weird. You see the small container of shrab sauce so you know I had to buy a bottle. Now to the main event, the shrab cake, it had shells, no flavor, no lump crab meat, baby shrimp, and it taste like mushed hush puppies. All in all, I will probably never listen to another Big SCHLIM review ever again to spend about $70 and all of this is a waste because who’s gonna eat this? Not me and...

My husband and and went there this past Saturday because my husband saw the "Stamped" review and had to try it. He got the Stamped plater with shrab cake, catfish, shrimp, and fries. I had the fried shrimp ( I don't eat Crab Cakes) with Mac & Cheese and yams. I also got some lemon pepper wings, cornbread, and hush puppies. We didn't get there till about 7:30 and they close at 8:00. The service was good, nice and friendly. When we got our food the gentleman encouraged us to check to make sure we got what we ordered and we did. So far so good. When sat down to eat after we got home. We live in Upper Marlboro, the food was still hot (we did have one of those cheap heat bags). The catfish, shrimp, (both were a bit salty), fries, cornbread, and hush puppies were good. The yams were off the chain, truly "Stamped". Now the sharb cake...see the pic below...no lump at all. My husband said it was awful!!!! Now I just tried this place off a whim. Dinner time and I couldn’t make up my mind on what to cook so here is where I ended up. The website says they close at 9 on one page but disregard that, they close at 8. The prices are reasonable, generous portions of food. When I called to place my order I could tell they have young workers but they were very respectful and professional unlike a few other places with young staff. The inside was clean, I was greeted immediately and customer service was just awesome. Not to mention these SHRAB FRIES!?!! Oh. My. Goodness. Shrimp and crab meat on hot fresh fries 😋 only two minute things I wish there was more pieces of shrimp and a little more sauce. Fireman’s cafe, you have a new returning customer.
