Shiki Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Cody

I pulled into downtown Cody kicking myself because I didn't pull off at Burger King for a double beef whopper with cheese and fries. Sitting at the light I saw Shiki across the street on the south side. So I parked and walked over. It was 11am on Wednesday so I had no wait. The waiter asked what I wanted to drink, I said diet cola, he asked Coke or Pepsi. Pepsi of course then he brought out a glass of ice and a 12 ounce can. That was a little weird. Usually a sushi bar gives you a sushi menu. Theirs was a 4 x 4 Xerox piece of paper with some choices. I saw Maguro, but not cucumber roll. So I asked for both and out they came. The tuna was obviously very fresh and delicious. The cucumber roll was made with fresh crisp cucumber and sesame seeds were sprinkled on the seaweed wrap. Again, a very delicious roll. For lunch I ordered beef don and when it came out I would have sworn I was at the Tokyo fish market enjoying a Yoshinoya beef bowl. HEAVEN. And the total COST? $20! I know Japanese cuisine and Shiki is right up there with anyone in Denver. Maybe the planets were aligned for me, but I have to give Shiki an A plus and recommend them to anyone who wants good Japanese food....

TO THE OWNER: TRAIN YOUR STAFF YOURE HALFWAY TO BEING A GOOD RESTAURANT. BUT YOUR SERVICE IS THAT OF A POORLY MANAGED MCDONALD'S

The sushi was nice, the place looked great; but the service was hands down terrible. The tanned skinned waitress was either new or incompetent.

Served us our food with our water glasses noticably empty. And failed to return until we were done. The sushi quality was alright. It tasted good but the rolls were rolled by an amateur. Ordered a dessert of which we all regretted as it took forever for her to come to us. I saw it done in the kitchen and saw it sit there for 8 mins before she came out with it. Literally walked by it 5 times with nothing in her hands. It wasn't even busy. When we received our checks they were wrong after we described to her what ticket should have what. I wanted to like this place but couldn't.

8/10 on looks 2/10 on service 6/10 on food quality

I don't write reviews, but I felt I should warn those who care...

This is my favorite spot for lunch! You aren't getting fresher fish anywhere in Cody. The owners are often on the floor with one acting as a server or hostess and the other making sushi behind the bar. The sushi chef will offer specials and recommendations to regulars once they learn what you like. I love trying new things so this is a big plus for me! The staff is always kind and attentive and remembers me and will even have a real conversation with me and get to know me. One of their servers was just working there for the summer and made a point to tell me bye because she was moving back home and thanked me for being her customer. I had probably the worst morning today and went here for lunch and their kindness literally turned my day around. On top of the great service the food is amazing too!
