We spent 2 nights camping in Cody, Wy and had a the best time on our first night but the second visit was horrible!!! We went in on a Friday night around 6PM and were immediately seated and greeted by our waitress. I wish I could remember her name (she was cute and young and blonde) and there was also great live music that night. She made great recommendations on food and drinks and also dessert! We weren’t expecting much out of a small restaurant in Cody but WOW WOW WOw!!! We had artichoke fondue which was my favorite, the steak and the trout. Everything was 10/10 delicious!!! We also ordered the house specialty drink and a strawberry whisky drink and those were also amazing! It was a little wierd that they have a lot of different beers but they did not have a beer menu.... Not to worry though, our waitress guided us and we chose a fun little flight of different local beers :) For dessert, we were a tiny bit disappointed that they didn’t have a candle for the birthday we were celebrating but it wasn’t a big deal. I would give this experience 4.5 stars!
Now the next day, we went in and waited at the host station for about 5 minutes before anybody acknowledged us and were rudely greeted by our awful server. ( I only remember by the fact that she had a shaved head) We had only been sitting down for a few seconds when she asked us what we wanted to which I replied “ Is your regular menu also available to order from?”. We were only given a happy hour menu and I returned for the life changing ARTICHOKE FONDUE. She then replied with “ No, but you can leave, I don’t care. People do it all the time.” We were shocked and confused and did not know what to say.... I really really wanted that fondue! So she let us know that the regular menu will be available in about an hour and a Half so we decided to stay, have some drinks and other small apps while we waited. Every interaction was uncomfortable and I felt rushed and unwelcome the whole time. I would also like to mention that when I asked her about the beers that they had, she immediately started listing off all of the beers they had so fast that I could not understand. I could tell we were a huge inconvenience to her and that she would rather be chatting with her coworkers. We had to walk up to the bar to get any drink refills.
Ultimately we ended up leaving before the regular menu was available because she made us so uncomfortable. The feta artichoke pizza, the spaghetti squash, and the arincini we had that day were 10/10 though and the bartender was very kind. ( He was a tall dark haired male). I will return to this restaurant but will not accept this girl as a server again.
P.S I did call in an order of Fondue to go to have by...
Read moreThis place is hit and miss. Sometimes exceptional and sometimes needs work. This time we went directly at noon, on a Saturday, in August! There was one young man waiting on the entire room. The sign says wait to be seated. We chose the closest table due to disabilites but he told us the table was dirty, from last night! Why? Nobody bothered to clean up from the night before? The server did a great job, but we had to wait to pay, when on a time limit, and he was busy, trying to wait on everyone. We ordered two pizzas and they were awesome with the perfect crust. I wouldnt bave been sad if they also had balsamic vinegar on the tables, our fungi pizza would have been happier if we could of added a little as a topper. The bartender was also in the room, but she didn't try to wait on anyone. There was no salt and pepper on the table we had to ask for it and our server was busy so I asked the bartender. I just couldn't understand why there didn't seem to be any teamwork going on while basically a full room by the time we were leaving. As a local visiting during tourist season I did expect more. I think the owners are more interested in having a honkey tonk bar and maybe should give up the lunch meal and focus on trying to be like the old Cassie's. The wood boxes outside should have flowers in them but they had dirt, beer bottles and cigarette butts. Even the bars on the main street (Sheridan Avenue) of town have great curb appeal and they are always full of people from late morning...
Read moreDinner was spectacular. We ordered a plate of the smoked chicken wings as an appetizer. My husband ordered the ribeye. I ordered the lobster pasta dish. We finished up by sharing a cream brûlée. Everything was delicious. For the wings we ordered half cherry habanero and half espresso bbq. The plate came out half bbq half buffalo. (They quickly made it right and brought out the cherry habanero!) In the end though it was a happy mistake. The buffalo were hands down my favorite. The buttery full flavored buffalo sauce was delicious. My husband’s steak, while over cooked, was very good. The flavors were spot on. We’ve both really come to enjoy a rare steak and at best his steak was medium, probably even medium well. We will be back for sure and will just make sure to emphasize our request for rare. My lobster pasta was amazing. Lots of lobster! The sauce and veggies were also in perfect balance of the pasta and protein! The peas were firm and not mushy - hard to do in a cooked dish! Dessert was yummy! A nice crunchy sugar crust on top of super creamy custard!! Don’t skip the wings if you’re headed in for a meal! They were easily my favorite part of dinner! 4 stars for atmosphere only due to the fact the dining room is small and no air break between the elements and your table. We both got pretty cold everytime the door opened as others arrived for dinner. Not a deal breaker for a return visit, but certainly was a distraction during our meal. Thanks, Trailhead, for a...
