I went last Thursday around 8:00 p.m. It was one hour before closing so the place was pretty empty. I prefer it that way so no complaints here. The hostess was pleasant, she smiled and gave us a nice greeting. It didn’t take long for our server Susie to come to our table. She was simply wonderful! Professional and nice with great customer service skills. That’s hard to find nowadays. Since it was our first time there we asked her to recommend a roll and she recommended the Texan Roll. So we ordered that and the Aggie roll. Those where delicious! We wanted more so we asked her for a second recommendation and she recommended the roll with thin slices of lemon on top. I hate myself for not remembering the name! It was was also delicious. Proof of that is the fact that we didn’t have leftovers hahahaha. The whole crew there seem to work well together and they were all cleaning and doing the normal stuff you do for closing. I am big on cleanliness so witnessing how much they cleaned really helped with giving them the 5 stars. No place is perfect so I rarely rate 5 but this place earned it. If you live in the area or you’re driving through and enjoy good sushi you have to give this place a chance. I’m counting the days until I go back to try more food.

I like 40 Tempura a lot, I think it's the best sushi place in town. But my today's experience has been rather upsetting. The restaurant was not busy but food came really slow. The worst thing was that, I ordered hot green tea and it came in a pot that was visible dirty on the surface. Whoever prepared it didn't seem to care to clean it beforehand. I didn't dare to imagine how it looked inside. I didn't report it to the manager because I didn't want to raise concern from other people who were on the table with me about their food, but maybe I should have done it so they can make the necessary improvement. I like the food there and I really don't want to stop going. But hygiene is important for me, it's hard to not doubt about their cleanliness in the kitchen :-( PS. I took the picture of the pot; I wiped my finger on the surface and one could see the difference with the surrounding (see circled area).

We decided to grab some lunch from 40 Tempura Japanese Fusion Grill. Everything was pretty great, with the exception of one thing, including the food, service, wait-time, and location. Because we visited during lunch on a weekday, it wasn't crowded thus no wait time. The location was easy to find, and there were ample parking spaces. The service was also very nice and attentive. We all wanted to order the Bentos — Roll, Tempura Roll, and Sushi. The Roll Bento tasted great. The Sushi Bento was fresh. The kicker was the Tempura Roll Bento—which tasted oilier than expected. I didn't enjoy eating the Tempura Roll Bento because one bite into the Shrimp Tempura, and you can feel the oil oozing out. Overall, I don't think I'd visit again. I'm giving service and location 5/5, but food was a 3/5 for me.

My first time and I won't be going back. The pricing is just absurd for what you get. I ordered the Veggie yakisoba and fresh vegetable roll. The vegetable roll was small, and ridiculously expensive for what it was but it was at least good. We weren't brought soy sauce or wasabi with our sushi and had to ask for it and we were brought only a tiny shallow dish each of it which wasn't near as much for the guy i was with's sush, he had to use the rest of mine.

The veggie yakisoba was absolutely awful. Generally this is a NOODLE DISH lol. And generally there's like vegetables in a vegetable dish. I would say by volume this was about 20% noodles, 1% carrots, 4% cabbage and the remaining 75% was just onions. I had even mentioned to the waiter i didn't care for onions. I did not assume nearly three quarters of the dish would be nothing but yellow onions. The noodles were overcooked and not firm, there wasn't much flavor, and since i don't like onions i was left with a huge plate of them after i ate the small portion that wasn't onion. Teh portion of the entire dish was insanely small for the price.

25 dollar meal and i had to make a sandwich when i got home lol. Gave one extra star because almost nobody in texas knows how to make a decent vegetable roll sushi for some reason. When they do it isn't usually like 7 bucks for...

The food was, as always, wonderful! It’s also not every day that you get to enjoy an amazing dinner while having life lessons… My 13 year old son and I ate there on the way to a baseball tournament out of town; during our dinner, a table beside us had a gentleman that was apparently very agitated about the service (which honestly, was stellar). He got up no less than three times and was extremely aggressive, to the point of almost shoving the Manager. The manager and his staff handled the situation so beautifully – they apologized and made sure that the table had everything they needed, but more importantly, served that table with patience and grace. The manager apologized to us and those around us but there was nothing to apologize for – I was able to show my son that while you can’t control how other people act, you can control your own actions, and that kindness is a perfect answer. The manager especially was an example of that. Well done, and we...
