I am super disappointed in Ruggeri's. I called them Thursday to make sure what time they are open till and to make a reservation. Gentleman told us the kitchen and restaurant closes at 10 and that they have us down for reservation at 9:15. Made reservations only because of that fact that we had to drive out especially to the restaurant about 55 minutes. We walked in at 9:15 and waited at the front for about 2-3 minutes. Then a gentleman named John came up to us and without greeting us said - "we are closed". We told him that that's not possible...we had a reservation for 9:15 and even online it states they close at 10. He then said, "well, then I can't help you - the kitchen is already closed". We told him why were we told that you guys close at 10 and reservation is for 9:15. He starting smiling and said "I'm not sure who would lie and why they would lie." So I asked him what time they close generally because clearly no sign outside the restaurant with timings. And then he said well sometimes we close at 9 or 9:30 depending on the customer traffic. I was super disappointed. Been here in the past twice and enjoyed their food. It was super disappointing to get this service. I would definitely recommend the owner of the restaurant to keep a set time, make reservations for times they actually close, change the proper timing online, keep a proper timing sigh outside, and keep servers that talk to customers respectfully. Wish I hadn't had this experience here - really liked this place. I won't be making anymore efforts to...
Read moreYum! It’s been over 29 years since my husband and I have been to Ruggeri’s in Dallas, TX. I know because he proposed to me after this wonderful dinner we had all those years ago. We decided to give it another try again in Colleyville because this is the week week of our 29th anniversary and it did not disappoint. I had the lasagna and my husband had the special of cannelloni. We started with a Caesar salad that came with some delicious bread and olive oil and spices on the side. I had the lasagna and it is probably the best I’ve ever had. Green spinach noodles with sausage and beef with a béchamel and marinara sauces. It was not overly cheesy: in fact not sure it had any cheese. It had such rich and delicious flavors, I did not miss the cheese. My husband got the special of cannelloni made with veal and spinach. It was divine! A little pricey but so very tasty. We finished with a solid tiramisu and ordered a bottle of a Tocana red Sangiovese wine. We will definitely be back. The best part was the owner coming by and checking on us and giving us suggestions. This restaurant has seen some rough time when their original location burned down before Covid. The ambiance was not the best but not bad. However, the food and service was exceptional. ...

We live close by but have not tried Ruggeris before. We showed up at the time of our reservation. The hostess said that they were running behind and that we should wait at the bar. 30 minutes later she comes up to us asking if we we were waiting for a table. When we said that we had a reservation, she state that we must have snuck by at the front. When we told her that we did check in with her, she looked surprised.
She seated us at a table shortly thereafter. However, no wait staff came to the table for about 15 minutes. Then a waiter came by and asked if we had been approached yet. We said no and he seemed puzzled. I ask if he was our waiter and said he did not think so. However, he then said he would take care of us.
This was a very poor first impression.
We had the stuffed shrimp appetizer, which was good. We also had the calamari, which was average.
The veal saltimbocca was tough and not very flavorful.
The desserts were not anything special. Did not seem to be made in house.
There was nothing at all special about the food.
Overall, there are too many other options for me to go back. It is too bad since it...
