Why did I have a bagel before I came. The portions are ginormous. I want to be in The clean plate club. I did not bring an appetite but what I had was fantastic. Best hash browns I've had in a long time. Casey knows how to slang the hash. No Raw bit's all cooked perfectly, over medium egg that was actually over medium, and some nicely toasted toast. I know that's a boring breakfast. Holy green chilies I'll be back. Say a woman clean her plate and order some more was impressed. They had so many things I wanted to try but just wasn't hungry. Went there for a meeting. I love the smallness of the location it reminds you of old school dining cars. And I'm sure when it's busy it's standing room only and eat your plate and get out. But that's what makes it. Now mind you the staff is friendly and they don't give off get out vibes but of you ever been to this type of dinner you know how it works. Was introduced by a long time regular and he was not wrong. They greet you on the first name basis. And the conversations pretty awesome. Had to text my brother before I left he has to come and clean his plate. Be back soon and often. Michael is a great server too. But what that man did with the potato and a grater was amazing props to Casey the chef de cuisine.

I've been going to King's Chef Diner since 2011, while I was going to college in C springs. Every time I go there, staff has been super friendly and the food really slaps. They must put catnip in that green chili. I would go to King's Chef Diner any time I had a major life event... Death of my father, breakups, birthdays, graduations, times we finished the incline. They were always there to comfort me or help me celebrate with a Burrito or a Grump or the Huevos rancheros, half smothered in gravy and half smothered in that amazing green chili. Today, I went to King's Chef Diner for the last time in a while - I'm moving away and won't be back for a while. I told my story to the owner and he brought me out a jar of that life altering green chili as a gift. Every time I go here it restores my faith in humanity. So long for now friend, next time I'm in Colorado this will be my first stop.

If I’m going to dine here it’s going to be at this location. It’s teeny and comfortable. I love the staff so much. Kings chef diner is exciting because the amount of enthusiasm that pours through these doors for patrons coming to eat. The proclaim the best chili and I will flat disagree, you want chili you've got to travel down to New Mexico hands down, argue with me I really don't care. On the sweeter side I will agree the French toast is just delicious. I wish they'd do away with individual packages syrup and or replace with pure maple syrup. The orange juice is fresh squeezed but very expensive for the serving size and not worth the price. Picture shown is of the mer'l scramble, a dish I tend to stick with.

Let me just start by saying that King's Chef has been my favorite breakfast restaurant in the Springs as long as I've lived here. All I wanted before the world gets shut down again was a little King's Chef, but upon calling in and asking, they said they were only doing take out. Totally understandable. So, logically, I placed an order via phone. I was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. After hanging up, I realized I was 15 minutes away and left immediately. The whole way I'm telling my girlfriend how amazing the food is gonna be (since she's never had it and I was excited).

I parked, got out, and headed inside to pick up my order. I was told to please wait outside so they could sanitize (again, fine), so I did. When I was called in, I was asked what I wanted, so I told them I was there to pick up the order for Tim, to which the man running the register replied, "We were getting worried. Placed that order a WHILE ago."

My girlfriend and I looked at each other confused (exactly 15 minutes had passed) and she asked, "Wait... you told us it would be 10 minutes and we already knew we would be 5 minutes late, so how long has it been sitting here? How cold is our food going to be?" (You know, since it shouldn't have been sitting there more than 5 minutes.)

The man's immediate response was a very whiny, "I don't know ma'am; I'm NOT remaking it." My girlfriend (shocked at how much of a jerk the man was being) said, "Wow... nice attitude. I never asked you to remake it."

The man then said, "You know what? Sorry about my attitude. It's free. Happy Thanksgiving." I replied with, "Sir, I intend to pay for it; I don't expect it to be given to me," and was cut off by the man saying sharply, "No, no... it's free because of my bad attitude. Have a happy Thanksgiving."

Then, in a matter of seconds, my girlfriend (who was just as disgusted as I was by how this escalated) said, "I don't even want it anymore." And, before I could even get another word in, the man took our entire order (that I was ready to pay for) and stuffed it right in the trash can.

Needless to say, we walked out and are EXTRENELY disappointed. I'm not sure if King's Chef will reopen after the COVID closures this Friday, but I know I will no longer be...

King's Chef has always been one of my favorites in the Springs. Unfortunately after my experience today I will not return. I have heard stories for years about how rude the owner can be to people and got to see it first hand today. I called in and ordered and was told 10 mins so I rushed out. There was a decent line of people waiting so I got in line. After about 10 mins (now I had called my order in roughly 25 mins prior) I popped inside to ask about my order and was told to go outside. Okay, fine. I saw my order sitting under a heat lamp ready to go. The people in front of me told me to go ahead of them since I already placed an order and while I was telling them that I could see my order, the owner starts yelling very frustratedly for me to come in so he could just get it taken care of. I could see he was stressed so I actually apologized but then explained of my concerns of my food sitting under a heat lamp for an excessive amount of time when I was told to pick it up in 10 mins (now we're 30 mins from when I ordered). He wouldn't respond, gave a snarky response when I took out cash (they've always been cash only so I wrongly assumed) then I gave him a card. He walked off while I paid. Dude, if you're too busy to handle take out and walk in, then don't do both. Also, don't tell people to pick up in 10 mins if you don't have a system in place to get them their food upon arrival. Needless to say, our food wasn't good and tasted like it had been sitting around for way too long. The exact concern I tried to...

I had never been to this location before so I had no idea what to expect. But, I popped into it briefly on my way to my office.

First, be aware that this is a tiny establishment. The seating is diner style and when I arrived all seats around the counter were full. This makes for an extremely awkward first entrance as everyone turns to put eyes on you. Yay! I made the low comment "this looks fun!" Perhaps I should have just kept my mouth shut. The waitress greeted me and handed me a menu.

Looking at the menu the first thing you see is that this is a CASH ONLY restaurant. Really? This is 2017 and what you might think of as being quaint or classic is actually inconvenient for a lot of people.

Regardless, I figured I could run and get cash if the menu looked good. I was still standing as one patron was leaving. The waitress walks over and asks if this will be for here or to go. I say "I'm still deciding" as I wasn't sure on if I was interested in the fare.

The waitress then proceeds to reply "well, let me know if you decide or you want to talk to me at all" with a real attitude. She gets to the end of the counter and says to another customer "F--- Him."

Yes waitress, some people can read lips.

You all put your customers in a semi-awkward position right as they enter your restaurant. I was having to stand while looking at the menu. You then present that you're CASH ONLY. Then if you're not fast enough for the precious waitress, she cusses you.

Amazing first impression! I...
