I am writing this review of this specific location because of what happened today to my child who is currently 17 years old. It's going to be a long review. I only started going to Starbucks when my child asked me to take them there for one of their refresher drinks. Over the years, we have spent plenty of money there. We always go through the drive, never spending time inside or on their patio. Today, my child rides their bike to the Starbucks plaza which is a good distance from the house and decided to sit on the patio for a break. An employee came out and told them "per policy" that if they did not purchase anything they could not take a break there. My child was very polite and said they understood.(I heard the conversation as we were on a call together). They asked if it was possible to at least get some water as their water bottle was empty. The employee said they could give them water for free if they purchased something. My child said that was okay and they would go to Panda Express and ask for a some water (Panda gave them water for free with no issue). It PISSED me off as a parent and customer that they would deny a child water, as it is free. They could have at least provided it as a one time courtesy being it is a child. I called the manager who identified himself as Mateo and basically said it is policy and that they have to follow it. There was no empathy at all and no apology. I told him he has just lost my business and he did not care. I definitely think they picked the wrong person for their manager with a personality such as this. I may just be 1 customer but as customers we make the business and are the reason the employees have jobs,, without us there would be no business and we deserve respect and appreciation. Because of how the conversation went, I got corporates phone number and called and made a complaint that will go to the GM. The person that took the complaint apologized, said that if the same situation happened with them they would feel the same as me. They said that even though it is policy they could have made and should have an exception and gave my child water. I understand policy but sometimes exceptions can/should be made. To deny a child free water is horrible and I complained because I don't want this to happen to anyone else's child. It's wrong! What if that child has no money for water?! I will not deal with Starbucks ever again after this. The specific location I'm talking about is: 2960 S. Academy Blvd, Co Springs 80916, it is in the Hancock Shopping Plaza. I am a everyday early morning visitor and this location has 2 ladies there that work mornings that are just absolutely wonderful! They know my order as soon as I start talking (drive through). They are always happy and always very kind. I start my day great after visiting them and getting my coffee! I once in awhile visit in the afternoon or evening and actually did yesterday to find out the evening staff are also very wonderful! There is a younger gentleman that was working Drive-through and had the most addictive smile and super awesome personality, I was very pleased with my evening visit. I was with my grandson(4) and he asked if he could have a small cup of whipping cream.....(normally a pup cup I believe) but what kiddo doesn't love a big squeeze of whip cream also!!! Made his entire evening. We left in a great and silly mood with whip cream all over my grandbabies face! Lol I absolutely love this location's staffing choices, whoever does the hiring, has a great sense of people and their personalities! The second time she was annoyed and went back to the location and spoke with a manager named Mia. Mia informed her that she was the 3rd or 4th person to mention this happening & she had only been at the location for a few weeks. My wife was happy to get a refund & frankly planned to never purchase anything from there again. However we noticed the refund was pending all weekend. In fact, by Monday morning it was still in a pending status. By Monday afternoon the refund had disappeared completely. Soooooo we called Mia to let her know what happened after we saw that my wife never received a refund & she said that she had never heard of that happening & would reach out to her district manager immediately & would call us back promptly that afternoon/evening. She never called us back & now I am warning people about this location. Something is going on that is beyond unprofessional at this...
