We came in on Monday, 11/7 for a birthday lunch. I arrived first and was seated at a table by the bartender. There appeared to only be one server and one bartender at the time. They were busy so I didn’t think much of waiting a while to be acknowledged. However, when a table of firefighters came in after me and they were acknowledged immediately by the server, I was slightly annoyed. After maybe 10 minutes of me being sat, Katy the server came over and got my drink order. Shortly after she gave me my drink, the other two people in the party showed up. Again, it took another 10 minutes or so to be acknowledged and get their drink order. Their drink order were taken by the bartender since the server still hadn’t shown up. Again, we waited probably another 20-30 minutes before the server came back over and asked if we were waiting for anyone else to which I said no, and that we were ready to order. Katy immediately had a snotty attitude towards us and everyone at the table noticed. While ordering, I also asked if we could get some of the chips that they give to every table immediately upon sitting down. She said she would bring some but of course she never did. While waiting for our food, I swear Katy did everything in her power to ignore our table. She wouldn’t even look in our direction and nobody could catch her attention to ask for the chips. It was even more disappointing because we we’re watching her check up on every other table she had multiple times. We literally saw tables come in after us and leave before us. She completely chose to put us on the back burner from the moment we walked in. I have never had such bad intentionally rude service ever before. Not to mention that we were missing items that we ordered or got sides that we didn’t want. At this point, nobody even said anything about it as we just wanted to eat and get out of there. I definitely won’t be returning to this location again after the service we received from Katy and spending over an hour and a half on a lunch that should’ve been done in half the time. I paid the bill and did not tip her. I’ve never done that in my life but I couldn’t justify it with being treated so poorly and not to mention on my friend’s birthday lunch. The entire table was disappointed with...
Read moreTo start... I grew up in the south, maybe this makes me a very picky customer. Its hard to even find a bbq restaurant in denver. Atmosphere here is 12/10. I think the smoked meat here is great, fantastic even but there is a lot of room for improvement with the sides. At this point I view only two of them safe for human consumption, the fries and the potato salad which are both excellent (the cornbread is also good). The potato salad is a recipe i'm not used to but its fresh, appealing. The coleslaw tastes like pure vinegar (I know its not a mayo based coleslaw but its swimming in a pool of vinegar, really gross), the hush puppies are completely raw in the center (never had a worse hush puppy in my life and thats not me exaggerating) the thing was raw but also the ratios of flour and corn meal are off and its too wet before you deep fry it; also shapeless and doesn't even look like a hushpuppy and much too small because the batter is too wet when it goes in. The beans are so sweet it’s like some kind of gross candy (This overly sweet thing is kind of expected) but the flavor of the beans is off putting, couldn't put my finger on it but I can only eat one bite. The green beans were just awful and bizarre, completely raw last night and strangely sour. Mac and cheese is eatable but the most absolute bland thing i've ever had, i'd rather have craft. It’s a good meat restaurant but why are the sides so awful? Get out a bbq cookbook and restart with those sides from the ground up. Never had anything like it; dunno where those recipes even came from because they are so off. Again the meat A+++, sides D-. My friend loves to come here but I don't because of those sides I want to avoid it. Even a mediocre chain like rudys has 10X better sides. At least they are safe! Also... the portions of the sides are a literal joke, if they were eatable we need...
Read moreWe were here last night and although the food was very good, we were handed our bill to which the total was $82.56 we wanted to split the bill down the middle so $41.28 per credit card. The server Amber left to run the cards and when she came back our cards had both been charged $48 and some change... so I look at the new copy of the bill and when she went to cash us out she had added on a gratuity which would have been no big deal had she came and told us. But the charges were added on after the fact. Also we like to tip cash because we are in the service industry so before I was able to see that $14 gratuity had been added I also handed her 20 cash for tip. She at NO point said anything about it being added, had I not looked at the new copy of the bill she brought back I would have never even known and she would have gotten double tipped because she definitely wasnt going to speak up about it. Had she been honest we probably would have tipped even more. Honesty goes a long way!! Also after already adding the gratuity, the receipt also gives you the option to tip again! So if you are dining here be sure to read all the fine lines after your card is returned to you because they sure like to change the total of your bill after they walk away with your card. And also our receipt says 5 adults... no. It was 3 adults and 3 children under 5. Hats off to the kitchen for good food but watch your server with your credit card especially if amber is your server!
