I passed through Columbus on my vacation, and decided to take my dad and brother out to dinner at Cheddar's. I remember going when I was younger and it used to be very nice, super quiet and relaxed but still a better dining experience than most of the other affordable options around town.
This last experience left a lot to be desired. Our waitress was prompt to serve us our drinks, which was nice. We got our appetizers before our entrees. However, the onion rings were completely unseasoned, and a little salt would have gone a long way.
For dinner, I ordered a 6oz sirloin for myself, and was not asked how I wanted it cooked. By the time the waitress came back around after I'd ordered and realized that I hadn't been asked about the cook on my steak (or my father's), the food was already cooked, and the waitress was serving it to us. She said the standard cook is medium well, however my steak and my father's were both a touch past well done, extremely dry and took a very long time to chew to swallow.
I don't think I've ever eaten somewhere that serves steak and the waitress had NOT asked me how I wanted it cooked, so I wasn't thinking I had to remind myself to tell her. I ended up not eating 90% of it and it was a bit disappointing.
Another issue we had was that after the first drink order when we sat down, after ordering our appetizers and ordering our entrees, the waitress did not check in even once on the status of our drink glasses. This resulted in my father, brother, and partner all having nothing to drink with the later part of the meal.
All in all, if I could sum up the experience in a few sentences:
The pros: The appetizers are huge, you get so much food for such a little amount of money.
The ambience is still very nice.
The cons: The Wisconsin cheese bites were more flavorful than the onion rings. Some of the food is very bland.
Not being asked the cook on my steak negativity impacted my meal, don't mess with my steak.
Empty drink glasses meant nothing to wash leathery entree meats down with.
That's pretty much it. It just didn't match the expectations we had for...

My son wanted to have his 19th birthday dinner there today with friends and family and so when we got there at 3 oāclock we were told once half of our party was there we could be seated. So as half of our party arrives, we told the hostess in which we were told in response Oh well, we donāt have anywhere to seat you, but we do have two separate tables. We can fit you guys at one in one spot and the others in another area, with different servers, to which I replied I donāt want my family divided weāre having a birthday party for my son weāre not gonna sit in two different areas. So we were then told we had to wait for a server to come off of break so after about 30 minutes there were two tables they couldāve seated eight people each table that has been clean. I went up to the hostess, and asked what we were still waiting on and why we couldnāt get the two tables with the eight chairs and I was told that this because they did not have a server for us. Meanwhile, there has been at least four families walk in and be immediately seated. When approached by the manager, and I gave him a rundown on what we were waiting on and what was going on he offers no solution. He allows for one of the hostesses to verbally snap back at me telling me that I have had an attitude the entire time. This is the most embarrassing situation Iāve ever been through in a restaurant and not to mention the most disrespected I have ever felt in a restaurant. We obviously left without eating today. This location single-handedly ruined my sonās 19th birthday dinner with his family and I can guarantee you from this point forward I will not recommend your restaurant or your customer service because of this. This manager clearly needs to be retrained so that he can āmanageā his servers and control the mouths...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf I could give it a zero I would have.. Horrible customer service including horrible management. So I went into Cheddar's party of 4, as a waiter walked over (unsure of her name since she never introduced herself) was greeted with a frown and was asked in the driest way "what can I get y'all to drink?" As we ordered our drink a table of 4 sat next to us. She brought our drinks back 15 minutes later (which was no problem since it was a little crowded) she asked was we ready to eat as she sat the platter of drinks behind us and gave the other party of 4 drinks to them. As we ordered she had this look on her face as it appeared we was bothering her. Still no problem! We waited 25 minutes to receive "cold" food with hair in one of the pasta dishes that was brought to us by the floater which she quoted "I'm not your waiter" as we asked her about a dish that was missing. After finally touching our food everyone's plate was cold and one "with hair" we called the nearest waiter since we haven't seen our waiter in over 35 minutes. They went to go get the manager who rudely interrupted me as I was telling him our issues. "I got I'll get if re-made" 5 minutes later it was brought back out to us by another floater as one of my parties advised her that the pasta noodle was cold she said "it may not be because we steam it in the MICROWAVE" that was it.. as the buff irritated manager walked back over with a cold appetizer and asked was everything okay we advised him it wasn't and we're leaving. He stated "y'all still have to pay, I re-made it and gave y'all a free appetizer" was over the top.. never received an apology, horrible customer service, and not to mention the waiter only came back over as we we're leaving as she spent most of time with the group next to us. I will never spend my time nor money at an establishment that feel as if they can treat any customer as if they are nothing and just another table....
