I passed through Columbus on my vacation, and decided to take my dad and brother out to dinner at Cheddar's. I remember going when I was younger and it used to be very nice, super quiet and relaxed but still a better dining experience than most of the other affordable options around town.

This last experience left a lot to be desired. Our waitress was prompt to serve us our drinks, which was nice. We got our appetizers before our entrees. However, the onion rings were completely unseasoned, and a little salt would have gone a long way.

For dinner, I ordered a 6oz sirloin for myself, and was not asked how I wanted it cooked. By the time the waitress came back around after I'd ordered and realized that I hadn't been asked about the cook on my steak (or my father's), the food was already cooked, and the waitress was serving it to us. She said the standard cook is medium well, however my steak and my father's were both a touch past well done, extremely dry and took a very long time to chew to swallow.

I don't think I've ever eaten somewhere that serves steak and the waitress had NOT asked me how I wanted it cooked, so I wasn't thinking I had to remind myself to tell her. I ended up not eating 90% of it and it was a bit disappointing.

Another issue we had was that after the first drink order when we sat down, after ordering our appetizers and ordering our entrees, the waitress did not check in even once on the status of our drink glasses. This resulted in my father, brother, and partner all having nothing to drink with the later part of the meal.

All in all, if I could sum up the experience in a few sentences:

The pros: The appetizers are huge, you get so much food for such a little amount of money.

The ambience is still very nice.

The cons: The Wisconsin cheese bites were more flavorful than the onion rings. Some of the food is very bland.

Not being asked the cook on my steak negativity impacted my meal, don't mess with my steak.

Empty drink glasses meant nothing to wash leathery entree meats down with.

That's pretty much it. It just didn't match the expectations we had for...

If I could give the location in Columbus Ga a zero based off my experience today, I will! The service that I received at the hostess stand today was rude and disrespectful. My son wanted to have his 19th birthday dinner there today with friends and family and so when we got there at 3 o’clock we were told once half of our party was there we could be seated. So as half of our party arrives, we told the hostess in which we were told in response Oh well, we don’t have anywhere to seat you, but we do have two separate tables. We can fit you guys at one in one spot and the others in another area, with different servers, to which I replied I don’t want my family divided we’re having a birthday party for my son we’re not gonna sit in two different areas. So we were then told we had to wait for a server to come off of break so after about 30 minutes there were two tables they could’ve seated eight people each table that has been clean. I went up to the hostess, and asked what we were still waiting on and why we couldn’t get the two tables with the eight chairs and I was told that this because they did not have a server for us. Meanwhile, there has been at least four families walk in and be immediately seated. When approached by the manager, and I gave him a rundown on what we were waiting on and what was going on he offers no solution. He allows for one of the hostesses to verbally snap back at me telling me that I have had an attitude the entire time. This is the most embarrassing situation I’ve ever been through in a restaurant and not to mention the most disrespected I have ever felt in a restaurant. We obviously left without eating today. This location single-handedly ruined my son’s 19th birthday dinner with his family and I can guarantee you from this point forward I will not recommend your restaurant or your customer service because of this. This manager clearly needs to be retrained so that he can ā€œmanageā€ his servers and control the mouths...

If I could give it a zero I would have.. Horrible customer service including horrible management. So I went into Cheddar's party of 4, as a waiter walked over (unsure of her name since she never introduced herself) was greeted with a frown and was asked in the driest way "what can I get y'all to drink?" As we ordered our drink a table of 4 sat next to us. She brought our drinks back 15 minutes later (which was no problem since it was a little crowded) she asked was we ready to eat as she sat the platter of drinks behind us and gave the other party of 4 drinks to them. As we ordered she had this look on her face as it appeared we was bothering her. Still no problem! We waited 25 minutes to receive "cold" food with hair in one of the pasta dishes that was brought to us by the floater which she quoted "I'm not your waiter" as we asked her about a dish that was missing. After finally touching our food everyone's plate was cold and one "with hair" we called the nearest waiter since we haven't seen our waiter in over 35 minutes. They went to go get the manager who rudely interrupted me as I was telling him our issues. "I got I'll get if re-made" 5 minutes later it was brought back out to us by another floater as one of my parties advised her that the pasta noodle was cold she said "it may not be because we steam it in the MICROWAVE" that was it.. as the buff irritated manager walked back over with a cold appetizer and asked was everything okay we advised him it wasn't and we're leaving. He stated "y'all still have to pay, I re-made it and gave y'all a free appetizer" was over the top.. never received an apology, horrible customer service, and not to mention the waiter only came back over as we we're leaving as she spent most of time with the group next to us. I will never spend my time nor money at an establishment that feel as if they can treat any customer as if they are nothing and just another table....

Well, this is not a first time visit to Cheddar’s so I’m fairly familiar with the menu and I’ve visited enough to have also developed a few favorites as well. However, I didn’t go with any of those this time and was not disappointed. I started with the Coconut Shrimp appetizer which came in a generous portion (6) of fairly large gulf shrimp which were battered and fried in a light coconut breading and some sort of white dipping sauce which I did not sample because I’m not a fan of mayo based sauces. Overall taste was great and extremely filling, almost seemed like the main course. (side note: The shrimp in the photo may seem a little dark but I requested that it be a little harder fried as I prefer fully cooked seafood.) Next up was my entree, which I choose the 5oz version of the salmon which was blackened and seasoned. It also came with glaze that you see in the small bowl which was also very good. Loaded mash was a mix of flakes and real cut potatoes, not sure how I felt about that because the consistency was confusing to my palate but ok. The red beans and rice would probably qualify as the star of the evening, very well seasoned especially with the chunks of meat throughout the beans. The only room for improvement there would have been a larger portion. Overall, it was a great experience as usual, very modestly priced ā€œcomfortā€ food in a clean and pleasant setting. I will also add that this place has gained an enormous urban following because of it’s low priced menu and food selections therefore has gotten crowded, so expect a wait time of 30+ minutes as the norm especially on the weekends. (They could stand to improve the wait area, it’s very small and with so many people standing around waiting to receive their ā€œtable availableā€ text, I recommend waiting in your car.)

Took our daughter out for her Birthday Dinner, we were excited about attending Cheddar's and to have a little family laughter 😊 ...She walks in to out the name on the list, waited for 45 minutes, as we were getting out the truck (upon receiving the text pertaining table ready) to walk in our daughter say "we'll have to wait for more time" I ask how long, the thing last didn't give time...as I walked in to ask she says "I'll go ahead and sit you guys down"... Friends, we ordered drinks, didn't received any straws until 4 minute but My tea was served in a kiddy cup *WHAT*; the croissants were so buttery, they were too soggy to enjoy; finally to food comes, friends, we waited at least 5 minutes or more for the utensils 😠 (we understand busyness, table service or what have you) my patience was deteriorating at this moment, I walk to get 6 utensils, as I'm walking back to the table from the Front, she says "Oh, so you went to get them, I have some right here for you, I had to wrap them up for you"...I understand that we as individuals get tired at times BUT whatever shift we sign up for (or take) the individual has to abide by it (services, professionalism etc.)...key chicken and shrimp was a cool temp, loaded mash potatoes was Not warm at all, cheese for the appetizer was cool, chicken alfredo sauce wasn't on the dinner (waited for the sauce to come and so our birthday girl ate half of the meal, then the sauce arrives after the individual saw it wasn't delivered), the ribs had Hair on it🄺😲, last night was horrible... I didn't complained, still paid the bill (of course) and sadly walked out!! Very DISAPPOINTED! I'm not for sure if it was the staff or what have you, never again Cheddar's.. Went to Cheddar's yesterday for Father's Day dinner with my family. We waited for 30 minutes, which I expected as we decided to eat at 530. We sit outside for 30 minutes because the lobby was so packed, again not an issue. Once we got to our table Sierra advised she would be back in a second to get our drink order. We didn't see her for about 15 minutes. She takes our drink order but another 15/20 minutes passed before the drinks started coming out one at a time, there were 5 of us. The servers were looking at us like we didn't know what we ordered when they couldn't tell us exactly what was in the cup she was holding. She finally took our order after we were sitting there for about 40 minutes. Our food came out cold. Mine and my mother in laws salad was soggy and the chicken was cold. My kids food was ice cold. Small plates were brought to us soaking wet and still dirty. The food came out in such a haphazard manner and once again the servers couldn't tell us what they were holding. They were telling us they had chicken on a plate and it was fish. It doesn't take much to serve someone in a restaurant, I did it for 20 years. We spent almost 100 on garbage. My husband's ribs had the biggest hunk of fat on them. I get ribs have fat but he's never gotten a plate like this from cheddars and we've gone for YEARS. I never want to sit with Sierra or in that back dining room again. That's where you guys put people to forget about them. That's if I ever even come back. It was a huge waste of time and money and absolutely frustrating. I would have gotten better service from a food truck.
