Where do I even begin…we made reservations to have Father’s Day lunch here. We’ve eaten here many times in the past and been pleased. Today, not even remotely close to pleased.
Let me start off by saying that although our server was new, he did his absolute best and this was NOT a service issue.
Our apps took quite some time to come out to us. The oysters Rockefeller were delicious and piping hot. The calamari was so so…some pieces over cooked and rubbery like it sat and waited in the window while they finished our oysters. Not a huge deal. We didn’t even mention it.
Salads came out and were salads…nothing spectacular but good.
Now the entrees is where stuff went extremely south. It took approximately 45 minutes to even get our entrees. 2 of us ordered the filet Del Mar special (mine is pictured) . The shrimp were over cooked and like rubber, my medium rare-medium steak came out well done and my MIL medium rare steak came out medium well to well done. My husband ordered the $100 dry aged bone in strip medium rare. His steak was also over cooked…nearly well done. When we brought it to the attention of the server, he asked if we wanted them re-fired and my husband and I kindly declined as it took so long to get them the first time. My MIL asked for hers to be refired and boxed. We’d been there an hour and a half at that point. He asked if we wanted to take the wrong ones home…again we declined.
As we wait, our oldest tasted the dry age steak and liked it…so the girl who was helping our server clean up said “let me go ahead and box that up.” In walks female manager…she took mine and my MIL steaks back to show the chef and then asked my husband to cut FARTHER into his steak. After cutting next to the bone, low and behold there was a tiny piece of the entire 16 oz steak that was slightly bloody and she seems appalled that my husband said it was over cooked…said that temp is taken closer to the middle…mind you this was near the bone, not the middle, and 99% of the steak was dry and nearly well done. She then questioned why it was in a box and told us if it was taken home she had to charge us so we declided of course bc my husband who ordered the steak didn’t even want it! We didn’t want it to begin with but the girl boxed it up bc our daughter said it was good 🤣🤦🏻♀️
After her and my husband exchanged some words, the manager finally left and SENDS OUT THE CHEF OR KITCHEN MANAGER Nick. My husband was already extremely irritated. WHY did they continue to send people out? At this point we wanted to pay for what we had and leave. Nick comes over and tries to talk to my husband who tells him he doesn’t want to speak to anyone else he just wants to leave. Nick…ROLLS HIS EYES, says “ok” so snarky my jaw dropped and walks away…at this point other patrons are staring, talk about embarrassing.
We have sent so many people to your facility, stuck up for your facility when you came in under their expectations (which happened a couple times to people we sent) and continue to patronize your place despite this. That ends today. To spend $300+ on food and then be questioned like we were trying to get things for free and embarrassing in that way was 100% uncalled for. Thank you to the server who helped any way he could! Lucky for him we tipped him according to HIS work and NOT the...

Read moreJune 11, 2025 was a third Wedding Anniversary for my wife and I. We arrived a little earlier than our reservation but was seated promptly. It took several minutes for our waitress to arrive and greet us at our table. She took our drink order which also took a unusually long time to arrive. While we were seated we noticed that there was two other couples and their tables had a card on them saying Happy Anniversary. My wife said why don't we have a card. I thought that maybe is was a membership anniversary thing, as I noted on our reservation that this was our anniversary. Finally a suited gentleman walked by our table and my wife ask what the cards on the other tables were for. He said it was for their anniversary. My wife ask why we didn't receive one as it was our anniversary and it was noted on our reservation. He said he would check into it and offered a complementary desert. No card was offered and we received our meals and when our waitress came to ask about if we wanted desert my wife ask again about the card and the waitress said she usually waited until desert. Well she has the desert menus in her hand so where was the card? My wife is Native American therefore she is darker skinned. The other couples were both white. My wife felt offended and felt like we were being singled out and this was racist treatment. The Manager came over and offered an apology and again offered complementary deserts. At this time my wife was very upset and said the she was leaving and for me to take care of the bill, which I did. The Manager again offered his apology and said that waiters handle the card delivery in different ways and this was in no way a racist thing. I told him that is sure seemed like it. Eddie Merlot's needs to treat all customers in the same way so that no one is ever offended like this. This different type of treatment ruined what started out as a beautiful anniversary evening. By the way the Manager did say that on our next visit he would make sure we were taken care of. Not sure what that was supposed to mean. Any way, there are way too many nice restaurants around, so we will...
