Let me start by saying this is a weird review for Emmett’s because their stuff is just too expensive, but I do have to give credit where due and admit that it IS good. Between my girlfriend and I, it was 40 bucks for a breakfast burrito, some salad thing she got, a latte and a single espresso shot. I don’t care how good it is, that’s just too much for such basic stuff. I’m not sure what the latte she got was, but I tried it and it was also good and had a pretty presentation. I got an espresso shot that was 3 dollars, pretty normal, and they asked if I just wanted to plain with no creams or anything and I said yes cause I prefer my espresso with just a little sugar. No problem at all. But when they rung it up, it added an extra dollar line item under it called “no feature”. I very politely asked the person at the register if he knew what that was and he admitted he didn’t. No one was mean or rude or anything and at the end of the day, it was 1 whole dollar. So I said “well if I’m going to pay an extra buck can I just get a shot of mocha syrup in it or something?” And they happily obliged. Everyone was polite from their end and mine. But I didn’t end up getting anything but a plain espresso shot, nothing in it. Which again, whatever. It’s 1 extra whole dollar. And to be honest, I’d bet that this is just some weird mess up in their point of sales system or maybe the employee pressed a button by mistake. So I’m not mad per say, but it should be addressed cause in a world where consumers are already extra price sensitive because of inflation and because a lot of places are adding “service fees” of 3-5%, it just doesn’t sit well. I’ve seen the owner of Emmett’s reply to some reviews so I hope they see it just so they can be aware and correct it.
So overall, the food was delicious. The breakfast burrito I got WAS very good, but I mean 15 bucks? Too much. This is why it’s a weird and difficult review because everything was great there, but I feel like we were paying a premium for nothing which is a bummer cause this place is walking distance from my girlfriends place and I really did enjoy going, but the price is going to prevent us from going again. I’ve seen the owner comment about being more sustainable, higher quality ingredients, better pay for the staff, and I genuinely hope all of that is true because again, the experience was great and the employees were great. It just doesn’t sit well as a consumer to pay higher prices for pretty common to find items. I think avocado toast was 12 bucks if I remember. Come on. I buy avocados all the time, I love em. They’re nowhere NEAR expensive enough to justify that price.
So overall, it IS a great place, the difference only ends up being a couple bucks realistically, but it’s that couple bucks that from a consumer standpoint makes it a tough sell to come back. I understand prices of everything has gone up. It’s a very difficult balance to find, and I do appreciate that I didn’t feel anything I got was subpar. Just some food...

Nice, private, quiet patio on the rear side of their High Street entrance....super fast and friendly service and table attendants. Only reason I didn't give 5 star is due to the use of all disposable serving pieces (napkins, plastic ware, bowls, cups, plates--all lidded with plastic as well. The only glass items were the water glasses and carafes?) And EVERY order is delivered to the table in a huge brown paper bag?Why not use serving trays at least? I barely touched our bag, folded it, and left it for hopeful reuse. No doubt it has to do with their service type of licensing, COVID protocols, and/or cost prohibitive reasons, etc.....not blaming them for how they're staying afloat and I'll still recommend to friends 😉But that was a major sticking point for us..... we're very conservative of our resources, recycle,...
