I love Jeni’s. While this location is the cutest, most charming Jeni’s, it has the worst selection and service wrapped in attitude. They have such a small menu and don’t seem to restock enough. They are always sold out of something and rarely (pretty much never)have the new or popular flavors. I was there recently and they only had 2 flavors of ice cream…both outlier flavors that no one wants. They are unapologetic about it. Another time, they sold me a $10 pint covered in a layer of freezer burn frost. Also, not long ago, I showed up a few minutes before closing. I stood there a while and the two young girls working were cleaning up, ignoring me. I gently knocked on the window. They continued to ignore me. I knocked again. One shouted at the window, “we closed at 9pm”. I show her my phone: 8:58pm. She shrugs and says again through the closed window, “we are closed.”
Please, Jeni’s get your act together at this location. Or open a real...

Didn’t take pictures, but I’ll say first, when I got there, the window had a sign saying “be back in 5”. A bunch of people were seated so I thought they already had their piece. I stood there while picking my choices and the lady opened the window and I made my choice. Not a minute after, some lady came and said they were in line first, which was impossible to know - even the staff got to me first because they also thought I was the only one waiting. Not their fault, but I think the limited space for seating also helps causing that confusion. Second thing is that the ice cream is not all of that, really. It’s a regular ice cream for me which was kind of disappointing.
One thing that disappointed me was that the waffle bowl was so salty that it seemed like it was not an actual match to the ice cream. Had to throw it away...
Read moreThe best thing about my weekends is walking down to get some Jeni’s. It is only open seasonally and with limited hours until the weather is nice, but it is something to think about to keep me going through the sad snowy months.
It is perfectly quaint tucked away into the brick building to the point of almost missing it. They have a limited selection of flavors, but, hey, it’s still Jeni’s.
I got the dairy free Texas sheet cake, but you would never know the difference from a dairy ice cream. At the end of our visit, there was a double rainbow over the shop. If that doesn’t speak to the magic of the place, I don’t know what will.
Perfect place to visit anytime of day while in German Village as long as the...
