Little West Poutine — Restaurant in Columbus

This place is a very attractive little window on the back of Little West Tavern. There is seating around fire pits in an adorable little courtyard. The atmosphere is great and inspires connection and conversation. The person at the window was friendly and personable. The food came out fast and was very attractively presented. However, the poutine isn’t great. The gravy tasted like water and the cheese curds weren’t all that flavorful either. The fries are great, the restaurant inside and this place gave fantastic fries. Unfortunately, the fries carried the dish and were the only thing that gave it any flavor. The best bite I had was at the bottom with a fry and a bunch of cheese. Service was nice when I came but the poutine just wasn’t great. The cheese curds were so firm it seemed like they’d just been pulled out of the fridge and tossed on. Most of the gravy was sitting at the bottom of the container. Had to pull from the bottom to get a nicely coated fry. Gravy did have good flavor at least. This is by a bar so maybe it’s intended to be drunk food where as long as you have fries and gravy you’re happy but it’s not at the top of my list...

Careful! You just might miss this back-wall walk up service behind West Tavern across from COSI, except for the line of people who know what they're waiting for. Hot fresh crispy fries nestled under flavorful perfectly seasoned toppings. While I appreciate traditional poutine, I opted for the "Out West" and a non-alcoholic blueberry mojito.
