My girlfriend and I visited Maudine's for the first time this past Wednesday and we both absolutely fell in love! You're immediately greeted by one of the more unique coffeeshop interiors in Columbus, with it's cow-print tile work, pink accents and all around vintage feel. The baristas were super warm and welcoming, especially when the one who took our order found out the two of us were also baristas! We had a nice lil barista bonding moment! Everything was explained to us super well, no question was left unanswered.
We ended up getting two drinks, two breakfast sandwiches and one slice of citrus loaf, which came out to around $40. Mind you, both her and I got an extra double shot in our drinks on top of them being the biggest size they offer (16oz). One thing we both liked was the fact that Maudine's doesn't charge for milk alternatives! My girlfriend got their iced Strawberry-Rose & Black Pepper latte with 4 shots of espresso and Oatmilk. I got their iced honeysuckle latte with 4 shots of espresso and Oatmilk. We both LOVED our drinks! Not only were the flavor profiles on point, but Maudine's serves amazing espresso. I would have been more than satisfied if I had just gotten a plain iced latte, the espresso was that good! The only critique I have, and this is very niche, but I feel like the buns of our breakfast sandwiches had too much butter on them. This isn't a huge deal at all, we just had to pat the top bun with a napkin. Other than that, the sandwich itself has an amazing flavor and mouth feel.
All-in-all, Maudine's is definitely worth the visit! I know my girlfriend and I will definitely be back for more lattes in the future! We're also super excited to try out their boozy menu...
Read moreStopped in this morning (Sat. 5/17) b/c we were in the area for an event and I've been wanting to try Maudine's. Pretty disappointed. $14 for 2 drinks - yikes. Waited at least 10 minutes. The baristas looked miserable. I don't think the cashier even made eye contact. When we finally got our drinks, I could tell mine was incorrect - I ordered one of the spring specials from the board next to the register. Was told the cashier rang it in wrong (????). The barista at least offered to make a new drink, but we'd been waiting so long at that point I just took it. On top of all of that, the place looks sloppy on the inside - crumbs and spilled liquids on all the surfaces. Little pieces of trash (napkins, straw wrappers) everywhere. The area with lids and straws was a mess. Like so many "new and cool" places in Columbus anymore, I feel like Maudine's wants to look cool and trendy and very 'Instagram-worthy' with the colors/aesthetics but upon even slightly closer inspection, it's nothing special and does not live up to the hype or the prices! the Little West Tavern restaurant is the same way (see my Google review of that for details). Then while walking through the lobby, my husband and I noticed all the decorative books on the bookshelves were knocked over like there was an earthquake or something? Again, just sloppy and unacceptable for a place that markets itself as high end and exclusive (eye roll). If you're in the area and want coffee, try any of the numerous other better nearby local coffee shops like Roosevelt, Winan's, Stauf's, or Fox...

The personality is very Type A disguised as a Type B ambivert where everything has place, but at the same time, anything could be placed everywhere, generally disorganized but far from being cluttered. There's intentionality, but not so much that it's sharp style quieting laughter but has a little bit of goofiness and guile. This is obviously a place to have fun, and when the mood strikes, be productive, but in that order.

It makes it richly comfortable to stay and a poor sight looking from the outside in because it is...
