I was very disappointed during my visit. I came prepared as usually to sit and enjoy a couple of coffee and I was met with an extremely cold cafe. Its 35 degrees outside and the fans were on inside with out the heat on or maybe the vent I was sitting by was broke. My coffee I recieved 5 to 6min later was cold almost as if it was prepared lukewarm when I got it and by the time I got to my table it was cold. No exaggeration. I went up and ask if it couod be resteamed or heated up some sort of way and was told no abruptly then turned their attention back to whatever conversation that was happening behind the counter. Although apologectic it still felt like "Sorry cant help you" I placed my half full cup of coffee I did not want to drink cold into the dish pale and returned back to my table. Sidenote: I was by myseld so it want like I was having a conversation that distracted me from drinking my coffee. I tried to sit back down and continuing my work but the more I thought about the situation the more infuriated I got. Not only did I not get to drink my coffee but ended up leaving because I was entirely too cold in the building leaving an hr and thirty mins on my doorside meter. The only thing that gives me peace about my visit is that a portion of my purchase is going to a worthy cause even though I was highly disappointed of my visit. I will have some pause returning this winter. It does make me wonder, since the business is such a success, do they even care about me as a solo patron. It most definitely didnt feel like it...
Read moreWe were looking for good, local, coffee shops on TikTok while we were in town. The Roosevelt Coffeehouse was one of many recommended, but upon visiting the website, the first statement that caught my eye was: “The Roosevelt Coffeehouse is built to support organizations fighting the injustices of hunger, unclean water, and human trafficking both locally and around the world.” This mission alone made the decision to visit an effortless one.
Stepping inside, the ambiance was both serene and inviting, open-concept, thoughtfully designed space that immediately felt welcoming. Despite it bustling with customers, seating was abundant, and the service was warm, attentive, and impressively efficient.
Their coffee menu caters to every preference, offering a range of expertly crafted selections. For those who prefer dairy alternatives, they provide both almond and oat milk. Notably, their coffee is not overly sweet, allowing the depth and complexity of the roast to shine through beautifully. In addition to coffee, they offer a selection of pastries, bagels and other eats. For drinks other than coffee they have an assortment of teas, juices, and artisanal sodas.
Guests can enjoy complimentary WiFi and filtered water, while a curated merchandise section adds to the experience. As an added delight, the space also serves as a live music venue, making it far more than just a coffee shop, it’s a thoughtfully curated destination...
Read moreI absolutely love coming here to work. The employees are kind and charismatic, the facilities are clean, the music and the vibes are great.
One MAJOR issue… If you have a gluten sensitivity (namely celiac disease) I’d consider skipping this place if you plan to order actual food! While they do offer gluten free options for pastries that they source from reliable, local GF bakeries, The Roosevelt themselves raise no caution when these pastries reach their care when it comes to cross contamination. As a celiac myself, it is just so disappointing to see.
Their prepackaged pastries from Cherbourg are fine, but if you are interested in their new GF/vegan donut options, just forget it. They are almost always cross contaminated. They sit on the same plate as other vegan (but VERY GLUTEN) pastries. If they just moved them to a separate plate, or dedicated the top shelf to their GF options, everything would be fine. I really didn’t want to leave a negative review on this place, but I’ve raised this issue to several employees on separate occasions and no action is ever taken, so this is sort of a last ditch effort. It’s just horribly disappointing. I love this place, I just wish they took this specific issue more seriously. If I’m going to pay a fortune for a GF pastry, I want to eat it with the peace of mind that its safe for my consumption. Coffee & justice for all…but not...
