I'd give it 6 stars out of 5 if I could.
After learning about this place by watching Guy Fieri's Triple D visit on YT, I visited on Thursday probably 40 mins before closing time with my cousin and his gf. The drive was 45 mins to Columbus.
I knew what I was getting from Wario's well in advance- the Wario's Way cheesesteak. All 3 of us actually got that same sandwich and the small restaurant certainly has the friendly and efficient service down pat. There's a few tables inside of the building, more tables are outside (that includes chairs as well lol).
We got our food in 10 mins as Stephan stated which is always impressive and appreciated. He was pretty chill too. When I say this cheesesteak is literally THE best cheesesteak I've ever had in my life.... I mean it. The bread is made at the restaurant and it shows (that's a good thing). The quality of the beef is top tier, same goes for the onions and cheese sauces.
Not a single person in my group of 3 were disappointed. We all ate our 1st bite and immediately felt like we were having a foodgasm! Wario's Way cheesesteak is $19 but you DEFINITELY get what you pay for because not only does it TASTE the best, it kept me full for the rest of the night! That's impressive to me because normally I'd snack on something after a few hours or make something small to eat but nah. Wario's had me covered.
The food was so good that I, alomg with the other 2 people in my trio, actually ordered a different sandwich, the crispy chicken sandwich and a Caesar sandwich to go and it also didn't disappoint!
Can't wait...
Read moreSo a while back, I saw a post about Wario's and how good their sandwiches were. I started following them and asking foodie friends who live in Columbus about them and they simply stated, 'you will not be disappointed.' I tried to not hype it up but asked the lovely Mrs if we could drive up to Columbus for my birthday and go to Wario's for lunch, then head over to Lions Cub for dessert. We ordered the Sunday Special Meatball and the House Spuds, along with a double wrapped Cold Cut to take home. Knowing the sandwiches are large with all the socials pics, the plan was to enjoy the hot Meatball sandwich and the Spuds on the patio at the store. Yes, it was chilly but the food was absolutely worth it. Oh my goodness, the meatball sub was amazing. Probably one the best meatball sandwiches I've ever had. The bread, the meatballs and the sauce are perfectly seasoned. The Spuds were incredibly tasty. The cold cut... was so, so good. The flavors are just so well thought out and proportions are spot on. Kudos to this small mom and pop shop for putting in so much effort to make such good sandwiches. Yeah, it's a $pendy sandwich but it is massive. No clue where or who makes the bread for Wario's but they know what they are doing as well. Yes, we will go back. Yes, I will tell my friends we need to start planning trips to Columbus to eat here. Maybe even go to a Blue Jackets game if Wario’s is open because they are right across the street from Nationwide. Support these small shops....
Read moreHands down best sandwich in the city is their cold cut sandwich. Unfortunately it's a crime to not get a cheese steak even you're there so now you're up two sandwiches minimum. This both sucks and rules cause you're getting way too much sandwich. The strategy, then, is to make sure you get a sandwich you don't mind cold. This is where the cold cut and veggie sandwiches shine.
The big thing about Wario's is that their worst sandwich is still one of the best in Columbus and their best sandwich will make you see the face of god. Each sandwich is remarkably generous, the roll is hardy enough to sit wrapped in the fridge all night and not be soggy but also not dry or hard so it's easy to eat, the sauces are flavorful and not too soggy and their dipping sauce seems like it's actual broth and not boullion cubes in water.
In summation: Wario's Steak - Best standard cheesesteak in Columbus Wario's Steak Wario's Way w/ Long Hot - Proof that a higher power cares for us Pork and Broccoli Rabe - My least favorite, and still the single best dipping sandwich in Columbus. Vegetarian - Succeeds where most veggie sandwiches fail, by having something substantial feeling in it. Fantastic cold. Cold Cut - The Single Greatest Sandwich in Columbus, fantastic cold. Chicken Cutlet - Did not eat, only viewed and smelled. I would full on deck the pope to get at...
