I was a big fan of this restaurant, until this afternoon. I want to preface this review by saying the food is very good. It is always fresh and tasty. We have had odd issues with them before - most notably when their rice once had a present taste of soap which was not rectified but, the food is usually so good we were willing to overlook it. The presentation today however, left much to be desired. Today my mother, daughter, and I went for lunch and ordered chirashi don and twelve nigiri ikura (salmon roe) as well as other assorted pieces. The ikura are generally in a nori "band" with a rice base. These nigiri were so sloppily done - the sides of the nori band did not touch at all and the ikura oozed out of the side. The pieces were half their usual height as well. Additionally, the pieces of assorted fish in my chirashi don were so large and thick I would have had to cut them with a knife to be able to eat them. Sushi is supposed to be thinner and smaller than a piece of steak. Nor are you supposed to be required to cut it with a fork and knife when you possess chopsticks. I brought it to the attention of our waitress who mentioned it to (I assume) the manager. She came out and actually told me that they usually had people complain about their portion sizes being too small and that I should order the sushi thinner next time. I have been eating sushi for nearly forty years and I have never, ever, had to order it sliced thinner. To be told so as though I had somehow ordered incorrectly was galling. She did not offer an apology nor did she offer to have the food remade. Our bill was just over $100.00 and to pay that for only three people with such poorly presented food is quite disappointing. We shan't be returning to this restaurant. It's a real shame too since the food is generally excellent but with such poor service and preparation it...
Read moreWent in and was seated towards the back, after about 15 mins of the 2 girls(not sure of what their "job" was) filling the soy sauce repeatedly giggle and making fun of people, I asked my husband who the waitress was since he was the 1 that came in 1st and got us the table. They clearly heard me and continued to giggle and chit chat something about hand sanitizer at that point......15 mins later they both came over and askes us what we wanted to drink. We ordered then the waistress came over and got our food order. My problem was not with the waistress, she was nice and politely served us, my issue was the conversation the girls were having. If you have a problem with guests take it some where else. Not right in front of people. Parts of their conversation sounded like it was about the people seated behind them bc they were making a big deal over the wifi, credit card machine not working/issue etc. I get it. I've worked with the public, I've waitress/hostess, I've cashiered......but if it doesn't involve you(which they were not the waistresses of that particular table and never served any tables other than our drinks for the hour we were there), stay out of it. Don't stand literally in front of a table of guest and make fun of other guest. The older lady handled it as best she could apologized about the issue with the machine but those 2 could have taken their conversation some where else or waited until closing after people were gone. The lady they were making fun of left upset and i don't blame her. The food was just ok but very high priced for the little bit we got. 5 meals and 2 appetizers, 2 sushi rolls and drinks for $152. This was a 3rd time we've tried this place and will...

Went in here with my girlfriend expecting some good ramen based on user reviews. What we actually got was a bowl of instant ramen (Top Ramen) with poor quality pork, poorly fried egg, and bland Miso Ginger broth. Dissatisfied after a few bites we were ready for the check. The waitress came over and asked if we did not like our meals, we just said it wasn't what we were expecting. She took our check and returned with the manager even without us asking.
This is where everything went downhill even more so. First off the manager brought out a bowl containing an uncooked brick of instant ramen and proceeded to tell us that it was real ramen. She then started to verbally attack my girlfriend based on some of our private conversation that the waitresses overheard. This included the fact that my girlfriend has a culinary degree and called the pork "mystery meat". This is when I got really angry and chimed in my thoughts about how instant ramen is $1.50 for a 6 pack at the grocery store across the street, and how she was charging $10.00 a bowl for it. At this point she said "if you want authentic ramen buy plane tickets to japan." My girlfriend pointed out that Musashi in Pineville has authentic ramen, to which the manager told us to just go there instead. On top of this she charged us full price for our meals, even after saying she was going to comp us the meals.
Overall this was the worst experience I've ever had at any restaurant. Needless to say we won' be returning ever and we will definitely make sure to let all friends and coworkers...
