El Vallarta Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Concord

SOME OF THE WAIT STAFF NEEDS TO BE FIRED. There are a few good waiters/waitress, but on my recent visit, I was completely ignored by my waitress. I had to get up and get the hostess to get my waitress to take my order. I was eating alone, but that shouldn’t matter. She took my order, someone else brought my dinner to me. My order was WRONG, so I had to wave someone else down, because MY WAITRESS never came back! A couple seated across from me, said that they HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM in the past, but it doesn’t DO ANY GOOD TO COMPLAIN. I told the male waiter that MY WAITRESS didn’t need to come back to my table. She finally surfaced, and asked me why I didn’t like the black beans. IT’S BECAUSE I NEVER ORDERED THEM! I told her that she had completely ignored me since I sat down and didn’t even listen to what I had ordered. She abruptly slapped down my check and said, “when you are ready.” Of course, she never came back to collect payment. I had to get up ONCE AGAIN to get someone so that I could pay my bill. The food is typically good there. But my fish tacos were rubbery and over cooked. I felt there was no use sending them back because I DON’T TRUST FOOD THAT NEEDS TO BE REORDERED. I'm giving one star simply because the nachos we ordered were good and it doesn't allow any less than one. The waiter was extremely slow... it wasn't busy. I ordered my children a cheese quesadilla rice and a chicken burrito with fries. Getting the waiter to understand what I was asking for was the beginning. They bring our food and the bring her a cheese enchilada, I say no sir I ordered her a cheese quesadilla. HE THEN BEGINS TO ARGUE WITH ME AND TRIES TO MAKE US KEEP THE ENCHILADA. I know for a fact what I ordered becuase that's someone my two year old has gotten many times, can eat with hands and enjoys! DO NOT ARGUE with me! Then my sons food comes and of course the burrito is beef not chicken. Lord knows I dont want to mention their 2nd fault because of the disrespect I recieved for the first. I was not rude. I am very disappointed in the service I received this evening from this place. I have never had such poor respect in service before. I have had "bad" service but not down right disrespectful rude service. I will not ever return to this restaurant. This was not our first time here but it is our last....

Love the food here, it’s our regular Thursday spot. This next bit will have no effect on our business aside from requesting not to be served by this particular server. Recently we had a server return with the check after my husband said “no change” to hand him the change and say “I don’t want your 3 dollars” in front of our entire party- we have never tipped less than 20% in the last 2 years of coming nearly once a week. My husband was in the process of putting additional cash on the table when he returned. It was never his intent to leave ONLY 3$ on our $36 check but to save him a trip back to us right away. It really put a sour end to what was and typically always is a delicious meal.

Side note- the fish tacos are incredible, and do not get the credit...
