The closest JC Penny store to me is the Concord, NC one. This is a southern area, of course and I am a black customer. I went into the store on Friday, 2/16/18, around 6:00 p.m. and was purchasing something from the home section. When I got ready to pay, the clerk at the counter would not check me out and said she was closed and to go to the menās department. I had to go stand in line at the menās department when there was a clerk in the home section standing behind the counter without any customers. I believe she was lying anyway, but maybe someone told her to say that. I have shopped in that store for the past 10 years after moving to the area. I used to buy most of my hair products there. For the past two times I have gone to that store recently, I have seen a new person, a big, white, female with a dress on, following me. A new Publix grocery store that opened in the past year in Charlotte, NC, at Prosperity Village, was profiling blacks that shopped there. I placed some comments on their Facebook page and someone from that store began circulating lies to all of the stores in the area, evidently saying that I am a thief. It has not caused me any real problem, because I am not a thief, but things like what happened yesterday at JC Penny made me angry. The stores know who the thieves are and I have been going there for 10 years or more and have not stolen anything, so why are they doing that ā just...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was rudely fired from JCP at the Carolina Mall two weeks ago. I had previously worked at JCP in Wilson, NC many years prior to working in Concord, and management there was far more kind and understanding! Steve, the hiring manager who fired me said, "WE TRAINED YOU!!" Well, yes you did, on a defective computer! Another recent hire and I were trained on a computer whose screen would freeze endlessly, and whose picture didn't correspond with the audio at all. "You can work with it," another manager said. When Steve decided to let me go, I had a nose bleed (I bleed when I get heated up/nervous), and so I went to the rest room to control my bleeding. However, Steve sent Crystal (supervisor) to the rest room to tell me to get out. I told her I had a nose bleed, but they refused to wait for my bleeding to stop, and told me to clean my locker and turn in my associate discount card now, nearing kicking me out of the doors! Gracious, what was the rush?! They weren't even decent enough to allow me to control my bleeding! So I walked with a nose bleed to my vehicle. "Make sure she doesn't leave the premises with that discount card," Steve told the loss prevention employee, who walked with me to my car where I had my associate discount card, which wasn't necessary at all! I have a clean record and have worked for many employers! They didn't have to treat their former...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGood old JC Penney always dependable. At this store they had rearranged. It made it easier to go from one section to another. They do need a sign saying Mens, boys, big & tall, so you know what area you are coming from and going into.
When the very Nice Clerk pointed and said that's the Mens starting with the blue jacket. Then when you get to the table with sale shirts that starts the Men's Big & Tall section. The Clerk had to stop ringing people out to point and give directions. Even if they wrote on the wall it the sections it would be helpful. This side really is better.
The Women's side is still a mess. Not that its junky or not neat, it was. There are no bearers, signs, or tables to know when you move from Women's to the Junior's clothes, until you see something pretty pull it off the rack to find it will fit the kids, but not what you wanted. That's how you find one section or the other in the Womens Department.
What all I saw through the Mens side appeared to be up to date and stylish. Oh, they still have the polyester high waisted pants for Grandpa. They have the Mens put together a little better than usual, it was nice to see that. And some nice trendy things for the Guys. The Women's Department, I'll wait till they have time to work on it before...
