METAL SHAVING IN FOOD! The service staff was friendly and quick. However, I'd rather have bad service than bad food! We have had Mac's before at a catered event and at two of their other locations, but it has been years. We were excited for this new location to open that is close to our home. We picked up an order of fried pickles and a large pulled pork platter to share the other day. The fried pickles were typical and good. The ranch had more of a buttermilk ranch flavor, but was fine. Unfortunately the rest of the food was NOT good. On the platter we got pulled pork, red slaw and the baked beans. The pulled pork had METAL SHAVING IN IT, see attached photo. This is unacceptable. I hope I found all of the metal shaving in the pulled pork before we ate it! This was not a scrap of foil either! When you tried to bend the shaving, there was no bend and very sharp! I'm not sure what it was from, but to find metal in your food is unacceptable and scary! The meat instead of being plain smoked also had some sort of sauce mixed all throughout it. And it did not seem like a rub that was applied and then throughout when it is chopped and mixed, no, it seemed it is chopped, sauced and then mixed more. Is it? I'm not sure, but it wasn't plain pulled pork. You couldn't even tell it was pulled pork due to the whatever it was flavoring. Could have been any meat with a seasoning. The red slaw was DRY. Now red slaw isn't creamy normally anyways, but it does usually have enough vinegar that the cabbage is at least wet. The slaw / cabbage was SO DRY. The baked beans were unlike any I've had before and in our opinion not edible. Has this recipe changed? If I had ordered them before even years ago, I wouldn't have ate them if they tasted like they currently do then either. They were SPICY HOT! I like buffalo sauce and spicy food in general. So I don't mind spicy food, but in baked beans there was simply too much spice and not in a good way, they were not enjoyable. They also had a very strong tomato tasting base to them, almost like a minestrone soup profile. So while the service was fast and friendly, the food was NOT good in our opinion and to find metal or anything NOT food in your food, that is just...
Read moreThis was my first time visiting this restaurant and I was here with my wife and another couple all of which were also eating here for the first time, let me start by saying that the overall atmosphere is lively but not loud plenty of seating without filling like you're on top of anyone and plenty to look at on the walls and selling to make for a very interesting dining experience. Our service was great, our waitress did an excellent job she was new and had apparently only been there about 3 weeks or so but did an excellent job explaining the menu nonetheless and making really great recommendations all of which she was right about, she didn't excellent job. We had a fairly big assortment of various menu items between the four of us for starters I had the ribs with no sauce, french fries the macaroni and cheese and hush puppies as well as the deviled eggs, the only item I was not happy with were the deviled eggs which I felt were very small compared to normal eggs and although I had them leave the jalapenos off they taste it like the actual egg in the center had no actual seasonings in them, the hush puppies all those small are really great I did not try the dipping sauce but you could sit there and literally eat a hundred of them, the ribs were juicy and had plenty of flavor in the dry rub so even without the sauce they're still very good and we're fall off the bone, on the recommendation of the waitress I gave the macaroni and cheese a shot even though typically speaking restaurants don't do good macaroni and cheese but it was actually very good hot very cheesy I would definitely order it again. Definitely somewhere I will stop again when I find myself in the Charlotte area. The only thing I can say I was not happy about was the condition of...
Read moreUPDATE They did it again y'all! I just have 1 critique. They gave me ALL flats when I didn't request flats. I'm a drum guy myself. Other than that, outstanding. So I had the ribs, collards, & mac & cheese on repeat to see if it was all only a fluke. It was not! everything was on point again. I did their wings instead of the burnt ends and the wings did not let me down. This food here! This food would make a sinner go out and start a soap box ministry just to go to the prisons and tell all the Lifers that their last meal request needs to come from Mac's!
My God on today! I was in the mood for some good bbq. I've had Sonny's, Jim N Nicks, Bobbe O. Midwood, & Smokepit. I was in concord mills & decided to by pass the other 2 & give Macs a try. People let me tell you that EVERYTHING I ordered was on point. The greens tangy with a hint of sweetness, The mac & cheese creamy and seasoned to perfection, & the ribs full of flavor, smoked & just the right peak of tenderness. I can't remember the last time I had a meal that hit on all cylinders. Let me say that no matter what you maybe going through or faced with. Divorce, loss of job, depression, no matter what. If you can't afford a therapist. Don't fret, just get yourself down to Macs & order a plate of this comfort food, rays of sunshine, happiness for your tummy. Why isn't this place talked about as being the best in NC? It's always the ones that are 2 hours away that are labeled the best. This food makes me want to start a food blog, channel, something! This is a place where legendary pit masters go to become more than...
