I really wanted to like this place. I was excited when my friend sent me the choice for Sunday Lunch. The Online reviews were positive, the menu looked promising and COVID protocols seemed up to par.
I arrived to a semipleasent hostess asking the party ahead of me for proof of vaccination and ID. I was not asked when it was my turn to check in. I was texted right when I stepped away. I was escorted inside again without being asked for Vaccination or ID cards. I informed the hostess seating me that one in my party was not fully vaccinated and asked to be seated outside (their policy). I am seated outdoors waiting and watch as the tables surrounding me are seated as well. I wait patiently a whole 30 mins before a hostess rushes by with drinks for a table seated after me. I ask her if I can get someone to the table to order our drinks. She comes back asking for our drink order stating she isn't a waitress but she'll get us our drinks while the place us with a server. We order two Malibu Peach, only for her to come back and inform us they don't have the ingredients to make it. We order a Pineapple Express and Mango Mojito. Both were flavorful and refreshing. A waiter comes and takes our appetizer order I ordered the Shitake Garlic Noodles (BOMB! by far my favorite dish of the day)My friend orders the Fried Calamari (she said were delicious),its now been an hour and ten mins from the time I arrived, the surrounding tables that were seated after me now have their food. We put in our entree orders at the Sametime as appetizers, of course the now new waitress comes to inform us the order is taking longer than expected but would be out shortly. 20 mins later my main course comes out, I ordered the Steak mashed and broccoli with shrimp (The shrimp had no flavor, the steak was decent although I was famished by this time, the mashed and broccoli were the best things on the plate) . My friend ordered the Korean steak sandwich (she described it as "Not bad, pretty good").
There were several flies and a bee so we weren't able to enjoy the meal. We rushed to eat a bit and asked for Togo boxes. Our bill came out to $113 after the manager approved a $20 reduction coded as a family discount for the inconvenience. I was even disappointed at this considering the amount of money we spent and experience we had. I gave 2 stars for the flavors and $20 dollars. Super disappointed this wasn't as positive as I hoped for. Perhaps if I had a different complexion my experience would have...
Read moreAs soon as I walked in it was packed I went through the doors waited less than a minute in line to ask how long is the wait for two to be seated. Was told they could seat us immediately. They gave us a booth which was nice and my server was Javier. The menu doesn’t have much meat less options I do eat sea food but not meat like chicken beef or pork. So I got the fish and chips it was about $20. My husband got the macaroni which was also $20. The sauces that came with the fish and chips were spicy which was good for me cause I like spicy however if u don’t like spicy tarter sauce you’d have to ask for maybe a non spicy version. Table doesn’t come with ketchup or salt and pepper you have to ask for it. It only took about 3-5 minutes sitting before Javier came and took our drinks and order. The food didn’t take as long as we thought it would since it was absolutely packed front and back. The food wait was about 15 minutes nothing crazy. Portion sizes are huge me and my husband are in the overweight category yet we could not finish our plates. His macaroni portion was a bit smaller than my portion size but his bowl was bigger and my plate was longer and flat. Food was a 10/10 and I’m suprised this place isn’t a 4.5 stars. Javier really took care of us and we were continually checked up on. We never had empty waters and our food was nice hot fresh and delicious. I’m happy it was as good as it looked. Before tip the bill was $45 for two people. But with the portion sizes you could feed 3-4 average size people with what we ordered. We only got water. Will provide pictures but this place was amazing appetizers aren’t really needed. Menu doesn’t have pictures. And if you don’t like eating meat or see food you really only have onion rings as an option. The before and after photos of our food will be posted along with box sizes which are kinda small. But overall no negatives off this place. Love it! And you can pay on the kiosk which is easy so you can finish ur food and be out asap. Bathrooms were clean and had a baby station however the...
Read moreThis was our first outing in months. We have had our vaccinations and restaurants have reopened for outdoor dining. There is a large tent in the parking lot where we expected to be eating. When we checked in at the hostess desk, we were told that the back patio was also open if we would like to sit there. We were escorted to our table through the spacious, well-designed & decorated interior space which (hopefully) will accommodate large numbers of guests in the near future. Sitting in the very comfortable patio with our masks off made it seem like we were back to normal.
My reason for being there was to try the Wisconsin deep fried cheese curds on the appetizer menu. It's a Wisconsin treat that is rarely duplicated West of the Mississippi. I grew up near La Crosse Wisconsin the first 18 years of my life and the 2 restaurant foods I miss most are the deep fried curds and every Friday Fish Frys. Someone psychic must set us in our server Joey's station. He was wearing a Green Bay Packers mask & was born in Wisconsin. Everything was uphill from there. Joey was very personable and helpful and treated us as very special guests. Overall Joey is an excellent server.
Oh, the food. The cheese curds were a huge hit with us. $12.95 is a little hefty price for the portion served, but it was worth the price as soon as we took our first bite. It was served with 2 dipping sauces which is un-Wisconsin-like, but ok. The garlic aioli was good, the hot-sweet not so much. Appetizers are half-price during happy hour so we'll definitely be back for that, too.
We also shared a Pepper Jack Poblano Burger which was cooked exactly medium. The beef had great flavor and the bun held up very well. The fries that came with with the burger were very good and plentiful for us to share. The beverage selection is also excellent. I tried a German Bavarian Pilsner which complemented my meal perfectly.
I highly recommend you give the Yard House a try. We will be back soon to try a different entree with our...
