So, went to Sonny’s BBQ for my birthday dinner. I go to Sonny’s once a year for my birthday and get the all you can eat sliced pork. Their sliced pork is amazing. It’s my once a year guilty pleasure. So I look at the menu and don’t see it. I asked the waitress if they still had it and she said “not on the weekends, only during the week”. Huh? What the hell. She said you will have to order the 2 or 3 meat combo and just double up on the sliced pork. I said ok, I’ll need another minute please. She replied sarcastically, ok I’ll be here all night and she stormed off. So she comes back and I order the combo with Sliced pork and the 1/4 smoked chicken. She brings it out and it’s Sliced pork and pulled chicken. I tell it’s wrong and she says “well, that’s what you ordered”. I said no, it’s not, I told you Sliced pork and 1/4 chicken. My wife heard me order and she backed me up on it. So the waitress gets huffy and grabs the plate and stomps off. A few minutes later she brings me the 1/4 chicken and Pulled pork. I said, what the hell, this is not what I ordered. She argues with me “well that is exactly what you just told me you wanted”. At this point I’m pissed. I said get me your manager. A different girl comes over and says I understand that there is a problem. So I explain the whole situation to her and tell her I’m ready to send everything back and you can keep it, we’ll go somewhere else. She says “well let me get another manager”. Clearly she was just another waitress trying to keep her friend from getting in trouble. I ask her why do you need another manager? She says “well, we don’t want you to leave unhappy”. At this point I’m done. I told her, your a manager, I gave you the problem now you own the problem, fix it. She starts humming and hawing and I finally just say take the whole thing away and we’re out of here. I also told her that they need to do a better job training their waitresses. On the way to the door we pass her holding the 2 plates and talking to the “real” manager. He looks at me and says have a good day now. No apologies, nothing. I turn and tell him that he needs to train his waitresses and that he needs to do better and we left. I will never set foot in that...
Read moreSonnys is amazing. My partner introduced me to the chain when I was visiting Florida. As soon as we came home we found this Sonnys. We drive an hour and 20 minutes just to get their food. The first thing that hits you is the amazing smell as soon as you walk through the door. The most amazing thing they have is their handcrafted bbq sauces. Our favorite is the sweet. They sell them in store too if you want to take them home. I always get the Sonnys sampler. If you love smoked meat, that's your choice. It comes with a piece of light or dark meat smoked chicken (your choice) pulled pork, gorgeous beef brisket and BBQ ribs, along with your choice of 2 sides and a piece of garlic Texas toast 😋. That's just my favorite. There are plenty of amazing choices. Plenty of seating and signage on the walls for your eyes, massive drinking glasses so you will be thirsty, and if you run out, the awesome staff will top you off quickly. You have 5 delicious sauces to choose from at your table or booth.
The atmosphere is rustic and very friendly, but they also have 2 large tvs showing sports that you can see from just about any seat in the house.
This particular location also has a drive thru. Sonnys has a couple of amazing looking desserts, but after I finish my sampler, there is no room left lol. Go for it.
Price wise, you're looking at around the same as any big sit-down restaurant around $40 to 50 for 2 people. They also have a kids menu, or you can split any menu item between kids. There is plenty.
Lastly, make sure to try the corn nuggets for your appetizer. They are amazing, but make sure you have ranch dressing to make them even better.
Sonnys is definitely a great place to eat. I just wish they would build one in Greensboro or High Point. They would definitely get...
Read moreMay 9th UPDATE. SEE below as I wrote about and completed the survey via app to receive a prompt response from Corporate. I like timely responses. They tried to explain the premise yet the apology stood out more. The young lady at the mic could have said anything to explain once I replied but to go stark quiet is offensive.
At any rate, corporate made good with a handwritten card. Call me old or sappy but this sealed the deal. I still write handwritten cards. It just means someone took the consideration and time to show care. They have won me and I'm happy to report their goodwill gesture, their attention to the matter and even the envelope is handwritten with my address.
1st visit. I ordered via the drive thru and had a wait. No biggie. Their app and codes were not scanning but as first time patrons they tended to us well. They explained things and I left happy enough to return.
Fast forward to Tuesday (today) and I placed the order online to avoid issues of last time. Arrive to the drive thru navigate around the roofers to be told ...I can't pickup my online order but I must come In.
I announce I've already paid and it's ready. No reply. I was willing to cancel it and deal with corporate to get my money back but decided to see it through since the simple turkey sandwich would be lunch tomorrow.
This may be a new person. This may be a one off incident but in the time I took to complete this pick-up no...not curbside like the app and signage purports ... Not 1 car came through the drive thru.
Nope, I didn't ask for a manager as I figured this review and any survey would report on my experience.
May some adult in management intervene and may corporate ensure the check-in doesn't disappear from the app...
