First experience was great. I went earlier in the day, girl at the register explained the menu, helped with suggestions, found a good drink for me.
Second time not so much. I went later this time and the night crew had earphones in, on cell phones, which made it a little frustrating since they already could not hear due to the loud music and plexiglass. I explained that I wanted chicken AND fries combo but wanted to change the drink to the WOW milk tea. They said i couldnât do that which was fine and she recommended doing the entree. She didnât explain the difference so i assumed that because the drink was my concern, the entree would still be the chicken AND fries and that i would just have to pay for the drink separately, so i said sure. Got the receipt realized it didnât have fries. Told them it was supposed to be fries too, they said now i would have to pay a separate fee for the fries because it wasnât originally added as a meal which wasnât my fault but ok cool. Paid that.
I asked them for all flats for my chicken. She said âoh yeah weâll seeâ without actually confirming (i would have refunded if they couldnât do all flats so confirmation would have been nice prior to bringing food out or making it) but she never confirmed and instead brought out drums and flats with the fries i ordered. I took the fries (didnât open them) but checked the chicken and explained that i just asked for all flats. They said ok took it back. Some time later they bring chicken out again with the EXACT SAME THING. I check again and Iâm like âumm i just asked for the flats, are yâall not able to do that? â expecting a explanation or something. So after waiting some more i ask about it theyâre saying the person making the chicken donât understand what theyâre asking them to do and so theyâre making it wrong. But i donât see why they arenât checking the food that theyâre sending out anyway or if itâs a TEAM fix it themselves if thereâs a communication barrier between them and the food makers. So sheâs like well itâs going to take longer now because they have to cook more chicken. Which wouldâve been nice if it was communicated about 20-25mins ago.
After waiting some more Iâm like ok instead of waiting for chicken to be made I just want a refund for the chicken and for the fries that were getting cold from me sitting and waiting for them to make the order for the THIRD time (i did not want a refund on the drink because it was fine, it was done how i asked. Just the food that was causing trouble). I was told i CAN NOT get a refund because âthereâs nothing wrong with the friesâ to which i explained as a customer cold fries is âsomething wrongâ because i donât want to pay for something Iâm not going to enjoy due to yâall messing up my order MULTIPLE times. So after being told they would not give me my refund i said well Iâll wait for the chicken and EXCHANGE the fries for hotter ones when the chicken is ready. They again said well itâs nothing wrong with them so no but we can sit them in the warmer. After going back and forth about a refund over food that i havenât even touched (i could see if i ate some then decided i donât want it, but that wasnât the case) i said fine put the fries in the warmer. Got home and the fries were soggy i guess from sitting and then being put in the warmer. Wouldâve just...
Read moreI have been to the Kung Fu Tea in Towson before and they are not the best because every time I go there, the boba is always hard. I thought since this location is having a grand opening, I thought Iâd give it a try so see if itâs better since they were having the BOGO free promotion. Iâm sad to report itâs not any better, actually worse. The milk tea and honey oolong tea is extremely milky/creamy, like way to milky. When I order milk tea, I expect to taste some tea but no their milk tea is straight up cream. I went with a group of people so ordered a total of 6 drinks, everyone in the group was able to try milk tea and honey oolong tea and agreed that it was straight up cream we were drinking so it wasnât just me with this opinion.
Oh and they ran out of boba.. how does a bubble tea shop run out of boba?! This is the second day of their promotion, they knew business would probably be busy.. they didnât think about preparing a second batch when the first batch was low? I decided to go back later for boba when they had finish making it. I go back like 15 minutes later, order my drink, and was expecting boba to be soft since it is fresh made boba but wrong. It wasnât soft/chewy like how boba should be made, it was semi-hard. After 5 minutes in my drink, it was hard hard. I have personally made boba and watched many videos regarding how to make soft chewing boba, from my experience..after the boba is finish cooking, you have to let it rest for 10 minutes or so before serving hence why this fresh boba got hard so quickly in my drink because Iâm assuming they were in a rush to get the boba out so they probably didnât let it rest.
Customer service: I didnât have much contact with the employees because they were all super busy which is understandable except the caisher - she was nice. Lastly, I did have to inform one of employees that they had no toilet paper. She told me they ran out, itâs only been day 2 of opening - how did they already run out of toilet paper because usually they come in packs which has quite a few.
Overall, I would not recommend coming here at all. Itâs not even worth the BOFO free, honestly I wouldnât even want to drink it if it was free especially the milk tea and honey oolong tea. Drinking those two drinks is basically like drinking milk which I can just do at home. We all werenât able to finish the drinks, only sip maybe less than 1/4 and ended up throwing away the rest. I am a boba lover, so Iâve been to many many different boba shops. So far the best one I have found is Chatime, I go the location in white marsh inside the avenue. Their boba is soft/chewy like how it should be and you can actually taste the tea in their drinks - you will not be disappointed going there.
I know they had a sign in the store saying if you werenât satisfied with your drink to let them know because the staff is still under training, but I didnât want to do so. It was so busy and I felt bad for telling them I hated the 4 out of 6...
Read moreWelp, I have been supporting this chain since their Silver Spring location. I was ecstatic once this location opened AND they started selling food !! Win !! Win !!.
I have tried several tea and juice beverages that I love. I tried the food and got sick sick !! I don't know if the grease was dirty, or the chicken was bad but once was enough for me. ...and I was missing a side. Definitely wasn't worth calling about as I threw my food and my family's food in the trash.
The beverages are enough to keep me interested. Buuuttttttt, customer service could use an emergency turnaround. I usually enjoy youthful workers but the batches over the past 2 years have been pretty awful. I last visited 2 days ago, and once entered, one employee looked at me and continued a task w her back turned. Another employee was standing near the left wall preoccupied w breathing. I was the only customer. No one greeted or acknowledged me. After 90 seconds or so, the breathing employee stepped over to the register that I was standing. Silent. After 10 awkward seconds, she says "have you decided what you want to order". Ummm, I knew what I wanted while driving to the establishment. I ordered my Hot Honey Black Tea to be faced w her "you want anything else". DONE !!
My order was ready in 30 seconds, and I was out. And I am gonna stay away for a few months.
Kung Fu Tea & TKK Express, please don't let these young adults ruin...
